Rhodium plated audio grade wall socket +1 @carlsbad, rhodium is not the greatest conductor but is used also because it wont tarnish or corrode, so personally I wouldn’t pay the premium for it. The best wall sockets I’ve used are the audioquest nrg that have silver spade grounds.
How do you find time to enjoy your $$$ speakers and system? I turn it on. I’m not trying to be funny but you don’t have to sit and listen to it like your head is locked into a vice. Turn it on and listen to it if you can and whenever you can. Go about your business. Enjoy your system. My two cents….
Passion, or ..... Precision? Yes a good system can be very revealing and rewarding at the same time. Perhaps there’s a synergy problem somewhere in your system but more than likely it’s the recordings. I’ve had the same problem but either I move on or find another recording o...
Brand New Vinyl Static and Pops That’s vinyl! It’s part of it. A while ago I purchased an Audio deske system ultra sonic cleaner. I only expected it to really clean my records but it improved the sound and quieted the discs so much that it’s really noticeable. I’ve tried other m...
Casual listening I agree. I hate the “head in vice” listening mentality. When I listen which is virtually every day, the music is “on” and I’m about my business. I have an open concept house so this is easily to do. Just turn your system on and listen to it, don’...
what are your top "audio bargins" in your system history? @curiousjim sent you a PM.
An interesting experience with power cable. Power cords make a tremendous difference in digital component especially ones that are known for reducing noise. I use a Shunyata Delta NR with my dac.
Is a FLAT response the IDEAL? It’s supposed to be…..I still like to use my ears, remember we’re “audio” philes.
what are your top "audio bargins" in your system history? Mine wasn’t a component at all, it was the about the $98 or so I spent buying a fiber transmitter receiver and cable to install in the Ethernet line just before my bluesound node. Wow what a difference! If I’d spent 5 times that much it’d still be...
My Impossible hum issue. +1 @speedthrills @lewm these sound reasonable possibilities. In addition to tonearm wiring @russ69 . Turntables can be maddening contributors of hum. I’m dealing with an issue right now on a vintage Thorens where by it only hums in the cue up...
Choosing new cables Just because your cables are 10 - 15 years old and your happy with them doesn’t mean you should change them. I wouldn’t change them on age alone. There’s no reason.
Were you an audiophile in the 1980s and 1990s? 70s here.
Will a Chord Hugo 2 make a music streamer addition obsolete? Chord makes great stuff but it won’t replace network players ie streamers as we call them now. I went the computer/bluos route for many years and when I finally evolved from using a computer it was like night and day, I agree with @carlsbad, “it s...
Best Direction/Product Combo DAC/Streamer Lumin, Esoteric, Innuous. These are the ones I considered when I was looking.
Ripping CD's to hard drive +1 for dbpoweramp. Also @tmhaudio do a Google search on SACD ripping and you’ll find the forums (lots of helpful folks) that talk about the process and steer you to download the necessary files. Unfortunately it’s not a one step deal, but once you... |
