CD player suggestions for Krell & Vandersteen
You could use your Pioneer as a transport if it has digital out, best way to save $. This Tascam is nice for $300 too. https://www.amazon.com/Tascam-CD-200BT-Professional-Player-Bluetooth/dp/B008224WPM/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF...

CD player suggestions for Krell & Vandersteen
I have a Krell KST 100 power amp and Vandersteen 2 speakers. What I have is a Rotel RCD 975 as a transport and I got a great deal on a Muse 2 dac. This is a nice combo for the money with no upper mid glare  or brightness. A 975 isn't easy to find ...
My old wavelength audio DAC is still usable
Your Wavelength dac is older and doesn't support MQA files. The files use a form of compression and when they arrive at the computer they need to be "unpacked."
Web / Streaming Radio
For jazz I listen to Jazz 24 and for classical I stream Classic FM 90.7 out of Holland. Both are at high enough bit rate for me.
Where do I start-amp or speakers ?
You can't buy speakers without considering what amp you will be buying. They work together or not. You have to hear them in combination or there's a chance you'll be disappointed.
20 Year Old Amplifiers compared to 2017
I have a Krell KST 100 over 20 years, maintained not the best but so what. It plays well and stopped me from looking for the next best thing and thatt's all that matters.
Refurbish vs New Amplifier?
I have a KST 100 and it still puts a smile on my face. I know there are better amps but I like to buy and forget about it. I've replaced the caps, set the bias every 10 years or so. Unless you feel your missing something or the quality has slipped...
What's been your turntable ownership over the years?

Amps from the 1980's -- What gear holds up sonically? Reliably?
My amp is right at the beginning of the 90's. A Krell KST 100, with some routine maintenance, cap replacement and bias/offset every 10 years I'll be dead before it is.
Upgrading amplifiera.
You can or you can be happy with the equipment you have. It's a personal choice but for me it builds the upgrade flame. If you buy it right the first time chances you'll die before you need or want to change anything. Having a well balanced system...
Best Class A Amp under $2,000 used?
My Krell which is a class a/b amp runs class a for 50w and my Vandersteens are 86db/1 w. Not being a headbanger with the volume control and with the size of my room I don't believe the amp has ever run above that point. I like the Pass Aleph 5 cla...
Quick Poll: Which of the following systems sounds best with Vandersteen 2C's?
I guess you mean power for technical specifications, it's like 75w in 8 and not quite double into 4. I started out driving Vandersteen 2's with 200w in my young naive days now I use 50w. It's enough and it sounds better.
Anyone hear this new Hafler amp?
I looked back at your posts and it mentioned Zu Omens if that's still the case my previous post probably doesn't apply.
Anyone hear this new Hafler amp?
If it's going for $1200 the one thing I would be curious about is the power supply for that money. 150 watts into 8 ohms but just 200 into 4 doesn't sound to stout. If you're driving Vandersteens that should be fine but other speakers may present ...
