No Audiophiles in Hollywood Because high-end audio is just silly business. The greater population could care less about sitting down to listen to music. They are too busy, if they listen they have the perfect system for a busy life, an iPOD. You may think why bother and they...

Most powerful and popular EL34 tube amp? Manley Neo 250's. 10 el-34 per channel give you 250 watts per channel
System pairing If those components are mid-fi I'm leaving audio completely. To upgrade you first have to define a goal, something that needs improvement (not enough bass, lack of transparency or dynamics) The you have to decide is it the equipment, the room or so...
Audio Refinement Complete I have a YBA 3 DT power amp and it's one of the nicest ss power amps out there within it's capabilities. You can push it with inefficient loudspeakers but if your not a headbanger it's sweet. You find them for sale on AA every once in awhile.
krell ksa100 vs. audio research 150.2 Here's the thing my comparison was between the Krell KST-100 and the Audio Research 100.2 through a YBA 2 preamp into Vandersteens. I'm sure the KSA-100 is a different story and might outperform the Audio Research, maybe. I'm in an apartment and t...
krell ksa100 vs. audio research 150.2 If you can get the ksa-100 for $1000 it's much better for your Vandersteens. I had a kst-100 and now I have an Audio Research 100.2 on Vandersteen 2Ce and it's no comparison. The Audio Research is much better. To appreciate any improvement in amps...
Recos for replacing Nak TA-2A to go w/ Klipsch KG4 One final thing..There's an Outlaw RR 2150 for sale on A'gon. It looks clean bought in 8/08 and it's $475. (No association to the owner)
Recos for replacing Nak TA-2A to go w/ Klipsch KG4 I forgot to mention I drive a pair of Vandersteen 2ce speakers with the Outlaw RR2150 with a SOTA turntable and Rotel CD player and it doesn't embarrass itself. I got tired of high end audio and figured I'd keep what I had but add a reasonably pri...
Recos for replacing Nak TA-2A to go w/ Klipsch KG4 The Outlaw 2150 receiver would be killer, warm sound, phono section and 100w/channel all for $500. You could spend $2500 but why should you. Get a Rega Apollo or Rotel 1072 and spend only half the budget.
How are Rowland digital amps for Vandies Thanks for your help Guido. I'm thinking this amay be my next amp.
Is it worth the upgrade? I have an RB-991 driving Vandersteen 2 Ce and I thought of upgrading to the 1080 but I'm not sure it's worth the hassle. It's not enough of an upgrade to warrant the sale of your amp. An upgrade like a McCormack DNA-1 would be a noticeable differe...
Turntable upgraditis I had a Thorens Jubilee for many years, that was the TD=147 anniversary edition. I replaced it with a used SOTA Star about 10 years ago and it was a good upgrade. The SOTA does most things better, better bass, images better. I still miss the Thore... |
