Red Wine Ginevra Phono Stage - Any Opinions?
If you can afford it, better is better. I've heard other Red Wine products and they are quite good. Don't they offer a trial period? I know they used to. When you get into that price range, though, you may want to look at K&K audio's Maxxed ou...
How does the drum kit sound on your rig?
I'm finally happy with the drums and I have Quad ESL57s... so it's not a thundering amount of bass drum but very realistic and, now that I've finally got my vinyl front end dialed in, very tuneful... which is a term I've seen written about but unt...
Has anyone tried the new Lyra Kleos?
All I know is that I was in the same situation and bought a Delos because the Kleos was just out of my reach financially. I'm very happy with the improvement over the Helikon I had before it, especially in the bass... better defined and more tunef...
What's more important: phono stage or amp
Rauliruegas, I guess I just consider the phono stage part of the "source" equation. Arm + Table + Cartridge + Phono Stage. Not 4 different things.
What's more important: phono stage or amp
Source, source, source... because you want the signal to be the best it can be and work from there. A quality source can survive mediocre amplification but super amplification will always suffer from a bad source. And for the record, it's a good q...
Tube Phono Stage vs Solid State What do you think?
The other thing I've found with SS phono pre amps is that they are better dynamically but seem to operate in 2D more than the 3D sound that I think you get with tubes. When I've hooked up even a pretty high cost SS, I always seem to lose depth in ...
Need to start a collection vinyl must haves.
There are lots of Jazz reissues out there of all the stuff you like. I shop forcedexposure.com.
Graham Phantom Supreme?
AudioMax is good people!
Where is the next generation of direct drive?
You can't really compare the current direct drive high end models to the old Denons, etc. It's a whole different league and they have to be evaluated separately. I've only heard the Grand Prix Monoco extensively and I wouldn't say there's a belt d...
One of my closest friends is gone.
It such a terrible loss. He's one of my main influences in getting back into audio after a long layoff about 12 years ago and he stayed with me the whole time as I built my system offering advice and support and selling me things always at a fair ...
When less is more...10 reasons to own Thorens
I picked up one at a garage sale and was amazed at just how well it played music.... no tricks. Really pleasing turntable!
better phono stage
I have Quad ESLs electrostatics and the Art Audio Vinyl One phono pre feeds them some wonderful music. I think it's in your price range. I've messed with others in the range and it just makes better music.
SME 309 and SOTA Sapphire - Cable & Cartridge Help
Just to give another perspective, I've had both the 309 and IV and in both cases I compared the stock tonearm cable to an aftermarket cable (one was a Nordost Tyr and the other the top of the line Origin Live-- both about $500) and the music felt ...
Lyra Helikon upgrade
That's very interesting. Curious as to what turntable and phono stage you use?
Inexpensive Phono Cables Recommendations
Audio Origami is a great cable. If that's too much, for a little less you can buy the TWItter silver cable that's listed on ebay. I had a very good experience with that cable on two different turntables and three different arms before I moved up t...
