Amplifiers:A Keeper for Life. Do you know of one ?
I think the only amps that we keep for life are the ones that we are emotionally attached to or cost too much to sell at the devalued resale price! My Heathkit UA2s are for life.
Sota Cosmos tonearm?
I'd vote for the 309 too. Excellent solid arm and easy to setup so you know what you are getting always. But I would also get an armboard for the Hadcock because why not also have a unipivot to compare the SME to?
To SME or not to SME?
I lusted after an Amazon Turntable and without listening just bought one based on the collective (small sample) reviews and comments online. Couldn't be happier but I would have just sold it if it didn't match into my system. I think you just go f...
Helikon Retip Experience?
Thanks so much, Jonathan! I really appreciate your expertise and insight. Restrained is more what I'm probably after. It's off to the track to win some extra money!
Helikon Retip Experience?
Yeah, I know :)It'll be money well spent.....
Amazon Model two turntable?
Which Model Two are you looking at? They have updated it apparently. It now has the split plinth like the Model One.
opinions on favorite cartridge
I've heard lots of cartridges but only the 17d2 on your list. I really enjoyed it but found that for a little more money the entry level Lyra's are better. I also think a phono stage upgrade could change your life. Looking at you equipment, I imag...
Moerch Tonearm Users... alignment question.
By the way, don't be afraid with the MintLP to trust your ear. I was a tad bright with a tiny bit of distortion with the Lyra rotated exactly to match the grid. Adjusting it back toward the middle the slightest bit fixed it. I think it's because m...
Moerch Tonearm Users... alignment question.
The MintLP is INCREDIBLE. Solved all my problems. Yes, stylus definitely right on the edge of the tonearm for me-- so Moerch is probably accurate. The key for me is that my stylus is not perfectly straight and the MintLP took care of the little di...
KT66 vs KT90
Yes it can. The only concern from Rogue was the heat of one the tubes being too close to the electrolytics. Otherwise Mark love the KT120. I should get a set and clear out some space for airflow and give it a try. Thanks. I probably wouldn't want ...
Rogue Owners Unite
Mines an Atlas..... almost a Magnum. Made by Mark special for Quad ESL57s. I'm so happy. Tried a dozen or so other amps. Nothing has even come close in my system.
Amazon Model two turntable?
I love mine. I had quite a few turntables before I finally settled on the Amazon with the Moerch UP4 (now DP6). I compared it to an Orbe/SME IV, a decked out LP12/ittok and a Rekokut idler with an SME 309. To my ear, the Amazon sounded the best. M...
A $300-$400 turntable tweak
My experience with clamps is that when I use my TTWeights Classic, I get noticeably better sound I think because the flatter records creates a more consistant azimuth, right? I lusted after the VPI center weight and when I got it it made my turnta...
Moerch Tonearm Users... alignment question.
Moerch's method is to line the sylus tip to the leading edge of the head of the arm and then check the overhang with a ruler between the spindle and the tip. There's a lot of gray area in it all. I ordered the Mint and I'll report back.
Moerch Tonearm Users... alignment question.
Well at least I don't have to worry about S2P because that's set accurately at the factory. Did either of you try the Moerch method first or did you just go with the MintLP right away? I'm curious if you found the Moerch method to be off. I emaile...
