Lifespan of NOS telefunken 12AX7? I've had Tele 12ax7s in a Rogue Atlas for 4 years and they still test new. Rogue is very easy on small tubes.
Need speaker for a small space and close to wall Yeah, AN/e's would be on the top of my list if they weren't so damn expensive. I've heard of the Kitty Kat but haven't been able to find a pair to listen to. I'll call George and see if anyone has a pair in my area.
KT120 in Rogue Tempest II Magnum- anyone try it? I run KT120s in my Atlas and it's a dream. In order to make it fit I had to use "socket savers" to extend the tube socket. They are available online. I think Rogue started making the holes bigger to fit at some point. The biggest issue according t...
Electronic stylus force gauge question Definitely have had the same experience with those scales. For me, it was never the same reading twice. Total rip off. I use the Shure with my Delos and for me 1.75 (assuming the Shure is accurate) tracks and sounds the best.
What is the best vintage TT for new audiophile? I have to say that while I love the TD160 that I bought for a dear friend, when he bought an RP1 for a second system (same identical components,) he really fell more in love with vinyl. Not sure if it was a setup issue and the TD 160 was in great ...
What to upgrade first You can get both a nice phono stage and a nice turntable for that budget and it will make all the difference in the world. I'd look at a Rega RP3 + Dynavector 20x2 and a Dynavector P75 II phono preamp. That's in the range and a GREAT sounding setup.
Comments on Moerch DP-8 Air. Elbow room between instruments. Top end sparkle. A real sense of fingers on instruments. Less bass but very tuneful. I find that a true uni-pivot always sounds great in my system. For me the DP6 was lacking in all the above areas. I tried it ...
Comments on Moerch DP-8 Yes, that's definitely an issue with the UP4. It just takes practice and patience to use it. It took as long to be comfortable with it as it did learning to type on my iPhone. I love both. A MintLP Protractor also helps a lot. When I got the preci...
Comments on Moerch DP-8 Yes, please talk about the UP4 vs DP8. I have a UP4 and am considering the upgrade but I bought a DP6 and it wasn't better... actually a downgrade in my system. I went back to the UP4 and have been happy for a couple years but the DP8 has my anten...
Used/New Phono Preamp for Linn LP12 and Benz Micro I think you are skimping on the phono preamp. I don't think $500 gets you nearly the fidelity equivalent to your other equipment, regardless of your power requirements. Maybe skimp somewhere else, unless you primarily listen to vinyl. People here ...
Purist Audio Break In - Venustas I did the same thing with a Museaus, borrowed from the cable company and then bought new. And I had the same experience. By the end of two weeks of listening a few hours a day, they settled into what they sound like now.... and what the loaner sou...
Forced to Downsize Thanks! All great ideas. I'm going to listen to a Simplex and Amadeus but I'm maybe leaning toward a used P9 (maybe a little more than my budget on a Rega wallshelf which is a very compact package. Height is going to be an issue or I'd keep my cur...
Asr basis exclusive or naim superline+hicap2 Enjoy! I'm sure it'll sound fantastic!
Asr basis exclusive or naim superline+hicap2 Stanwal, if you are going to a passive, please try the Lightspeed. I have a custom LIghtspeed LDR-type preamp built by someone with Georges blessing. I can't describe the difference between it and the passives I tried, except to say it's just not ...
Asr basis exclusive or naim superline+hicap2 FWIW I got the same advice. I went with the Furutech AG12 Balanced XLR Phono Cable from my Moerch arm but I use RCA outs on the Basis. |
