$5,000 to spend for analog front end - advice please...:)
I bought the phono stage first, BAT VK P10SE. Up to around eighty db in high mode. Not dead quiet at the volume I listen but it does deliver some sweet and powerful music. Rock solid bass. Spent  5K more on the tt/cart though. But then I'm a vinyl...
When and how did you, if at all, realize vinyl is better?
Vinyl snobs should have a bit more sensitivity towards their compatriots who live in the digital world. My hat goes off to those who continue to improve their digital playback. I would do the same given the time and funds. I guess it comes down to...
Have you ever tried a pair of speakers and said this Is the last thing I will ever need.
To all the fortunate posters above, it's great to hear those who picked the right speaker. All different, but each music lover completely satisfied. Zu Def IVs here. Three years in and I walk up those stairs to go to bed after staying up too late,...
When and how did you, if at all, realize vinyl is better?
When I dropped for me what was big bucks on a rig. Went with balanced and full range drivers and the detail began to really come through. If I could have gotten CD to sound better I would have been able to sell off the expensive vinyl setup and po...
Is It Safe to Warm Up Power Amps Without Speakers Attached
Be glad you asked.
To monoblock or not to monoblock McIntosh MC275's
I strapped a pair of MC 275s onto some JBl 250 Pyramids thirty or so years ago. Didn't really help.
Materials to reduce sidewall flex & vibration ?
You could certainly go with granite, finding a really good installer to cut and glue the sides and top. Corian could certainly be tastefully done as well.a bit easier to do a cutout in the front for the speakers as well. If it works really well yo...
Room treatment-I was afraid of this
Bummer, called Top Acoustics for some diffusors and they're out of business, no more in stock.
ROI. Where is money better spent?
Balanced components negate the need to some extent for jumping into the cable scramble. That's no small blessing. A setup guy I know with many years of experience tried Belkin XLRs across the room and wasn't sure there was much difference.Room tre...

How old of McIntosh SS stereo anp
Probably worth a shot, but Terry DeWick in Knoxville is more reasonable and is a lifelong Mcintosh repair guru. A variac is needed to power it up though, just powering it up can lead to trouble.

Dave,Don't know how long the TA website has been up but having GIK and Top Acoustics nearby is helping my room. Going to put 5 across under my TV and call it a day. Best to you.

Top Acoustics-stepped diffusors $99 for 16’ by 48" by 6" deepNo financial interest in the company.
Store sound v/s Home sound
If your are free from WAF get started on the room. You can probably beat the demo room. And buy 'Get Better Sound'.
Room treatment-I was afraid of this
I did place the corner traps first. Then the TV trap and later the bass traps behind the listening  seat. The room is a hard room with windows left, concrete wall with sheetrock right, sheetrock ceiling and hardwood floors on concrete. The damping...
