Recommendation for an audiophile speaker cord that is not "bright"?
Going from some generic twisted copper cables without terminators to a $2000+ per meter speaker cable is quite a jump. You should experiment more in the low end before you take the plunge. Who knows you might find something you like along the way....

Ruraltrauma-    I might have missed it but I still don't see where you told us the speaker cables you tried that you thought sounded OK.   That is kind of important.   If you tried a brand that does not have the brightness in your system you shoul...
DIY speaker isolation base for a wood floor
I always thought you wanted to couple your speakers to the floor (with spikes).      Now it is best to decouple them?
Does raising speaker cables off the floor really make a big difference?
While I will admit I am somewhat of a skeptic on risers.   I can see a slight possibility if you speaker wires are on a carpet that were all charged up with static on a dry day.........But what about hardwood floors (like I have).  Can anyone see ...

So........you are demoing some $2000-4000 per meter pieces of wire and you want other peoples advice what is better? OK, I will be like the rest. Why are you bottom feeding with the cheap stuff? Spend more (like I did) and it will sound much bette...
The Truth About Power Cords and there "Real" Price to Performance
JerryBJI know exactly what you mean. The cables I've bought in the last year are hopefully my last, with retirement a wee way away, but certainly a factor. The Audience Au24SX are certainly my end interconnects. My ATC SCM19v2 are my 'end game...
The Truth About Power Cords and there "Real" Price to Performance
280% THD? That’s a lot of THD! 😩Yes......that is why 70% of the AC power you put in is wasted by the AC/DC converter. But that does not mean you will have 280% distortion in your audio signal. The 33% converted into clean DC power that makes it ou...
The Truth About Power Cords and there "Real" Price to Performance
It is strange dynaquest4 how some people want to show their lack of knowledge. I guess I am just here to help them .. probably would have been smart for them to find out how I spent a good part of my career. Oh well.https://www.allaboutcircuits.co...
Distinguished Frequencies
Cleeds White noise seems like a smart choice to me. The purpose of the test was to ascertain if there was an audible difference between different sample rates, not whether any "sounded better." I agree with you. They did hear a difference in the ...
Distinguished Frequencies
Listening to white noise seems like a strange choice........I wonder if the noise sounded better at higher sampling frequencies?
The Truth About Power Cords and there "Real" Price to Performance
geoffait- To get a speaker to produce sound you need an oscillating current of some frequency and AC power is distributed as an oscillating current at 60 Hz. Do you ever wonder why a 60 Hz ground loop hum from the AC sounds exactly the same as a 6...
The Truth About Power Cords and there "Real" Price to Performance
AudiozenoligyThat is not true. If all they did was transmit 60Hz, then linear power supplies would not work. There is considerably energy above 60Hz.The limitation in frequency response will be the transformer primarily. In America all of the powe...
The Truth About Power Cords and there "Real" Price to Performance
One thing to remember about power cords is that they only have to transmit one frequency (60 Hz).  Everything else is noise.    Many manufacturers have descriptions of their power cords that sound like what you need with interconnects and speaker ...
The Truth About Power Cords and there "Real" Price to Performance
Mitch2-One of the manufacturers who posts here, has said Romex would actually make a high performing power cord but it would not meet electrical codes for that purpose. We talked about this some in the Romex to your Amp thread. here is what I post...
Cryogenically treated cables
If cryo treatment always improve the sound why don’t ALL high end manufacturers cryo their cables by default? Treating cables in bulk, cryo treatment would probably only add $10-20 per cable. There would be plenty of profit left with their $500-10...
