Upgrading Quicksilver preamp or amp caps -- warranty impact? Sitting here listening with my MD FM tuner, and its hard to believe I’m listening to radio - upgraded caps in the tuner, DAC, preamp, mono amps. Depth, transparency, micro detail, decay. Piano and guitars just sound amazingly good even with FM, an...

I've been dragged to recommendations, kicking and screaming Yes. it's a lot of fun. Over the past few years, went from Spotify to Tidal to Qobuz and back to Amazon HD recently. The self learning engine on a few of them is the best part of discovering or rediscovering music.
change amps or speakers @majorc Yes Mike mentioned Klipsch right off the bat. Are any of you familiar with the various models? Yes, and It might be worthwhile to head over to the Klipsch forum, lots of quicksilver amp owners there with all the different models. Many ove...
Questions that Never Die "DAC direct to Amp or Preamp still required?"Then, it triggers:"Solid State -or- Tube Preamp"?Both seem to be coming up again lately.
Floor standing or Large bookshelf recommendations - 2.0 channel setup @b_limoAnd whoa, $5000 amp? Might want to look into a new preamp first. I’d say that the Rotel is holding you back more than the LS50’s at this point.+1, what b_limo said. Agree. A few years back there was a member over on the AA forum who selecte...
The value of a good FM tuner?......, now and in the future... Listen to FM on my conventional Magnum Dynalab tuner quite often. A nice change from streaming at times. Even with limited frequency range, It can still be open and enjoyable sounding compared to HD radio.
change amps or speakers @majorc "the (older) M60s are a complete no go"Yeah, kinda wondered if he'd say that, and he's a Klipsch horn speaker guy according to local dealers here. I've only heard your same taller EMT LFT8Bs with the later model Quicksilver mono amps wit...
Amicus Addendum to Tube Pre-Amp Thread by Hilde45 @osideIf I had 101db sensitivity Chorus speakers, a very "low noise" separate preamp and and amp would likely be one approach, keeping power supplies separate. A super high quality (low noise) integrated could be ultra expensive if cost is a first...
Audio Research preamps EXCESSIVE OPERATING COSTS @tubebuffer..."I don’t see how this arc problem this family to much on the tv problem." ...Oh my gosh, LMFAO. Tubes use to be in TVs and lasted a good while.
The conclusion I've reached about speakers @baclaggI am always hopeful when I click on one of his threads there will be zero responses to it. But, alas there always are. "A troll deliberately exploits tendencies of human nature".And every speaker sounds different and all of them are perfe...
The conclusion I've reached about speakers "They all sound the same".Solved.
Pass Labs x250.8 vs tube amps @chungjh, Thinking about your 260.8 amp. 55 degrees celsius measured at the heat sink is often referred to as optimum operating temp for many Pass amps. Reportedly, 55c is also a setup tuning point where Pass Labs sets the bias on many of their...
Wish I had put more emphasis on cables earlier And/Or, support a good local audio dealer who allows you to take take cables home and try them for 30 days. If not, find another dealer. It sure eliminates all the guessing and wonder.Best thing I ever did long ago. With first hand experience the ...
Used McIntosh Amp or better new options out there? - Amplifier or Integrated How about a really nice integrated tube amplifier... instead of separates with added costs, cabling costs, gonna need a DAC if it’s not built in, etc. Eventually after I’m done screwing around with separates in SS and tube the past 35 years, my en... |
