Vienna Acoustics setup questions
The Beethovens will function ok with the HK, but they'll really come alive with 300 or so high quality watts. (Put that on your future "must have" list). Analysis Plus Solo Crystal Oval 8s will work great with the Beethovens. I'd suggest looking f...
Why vinyl?
I bought a lot of LPs for under $5, BUT my D2D and "audiophile" recordings were mostly in the mid-teens and some higher. I think you have to compare 180 gram current pressing to the high-end recordings of the 1970s and 1980s. When you do that, the...
Vienna Acoustics Haydn Grand
They ARE that good. HOWEVER, the Spendors are also very good. Unless you can find a way to listen for yourself, I'd discourage picking something based on a review over something you've actually heard.Dave

Advice in up grading weakest link in system
Looks like a great system to me. What cartridge are you using. I think, but I'm not certain, that the Rega's arm would handle a Sumiko Blackbird HOMC cartridge very handily. If so, that'd be a great upgrade. I had a 1B before I went to a Pro-ject ...

Vienna Acoustics setup questions
The REL subs match up well with VAs. Why don't you just go 2.1 for video and focus on super 2-channel? The VAs image well enough that you don't need a middle channel. How many watts does the HK put out? If you add a sub you can do with less from yo...
Is "audiophile" being overused in the LP listings?
I use terms like "silent pressing with great dynamics" or "great pressing EXCEPT for one low-level scratch impacting 4 revolutions on side 1, track 1" or "average pressing with no scratches or pops" or "typical Dynagroove", etc. These descriptions...
concrete slab vs/ wood floor - pros and cons
Yeah, stick with the slab and cover a large portion of it with thick carpet or rugs. It make a great base for speakers and turntables.Dave
Definition of "redbook" and "Prat" ?

Equipment: To Hide or not to Hide
I like my equipment in a armoire, except for the speakers, of course. The added advantage of the armoire is the isolation of the turntable from airborne vibration, which can be significant.Look at my Virtual System for an idea of how it looks. My ...
In memory of Rosie Clooney..
Yes, I've had all her stuff with Concord for years. Concord alway matched her with great bands. I heard cornetist Warren Vache' on one of her albums back in the 1980s, so now I've got most of his albums, along with Rosie's and Scott Hamilton the t...
