Dali Helicon 300 with Sansui 9090DB = disaster??
Hi, welcome to A'gon. There will not be any problem at all, so far as your amp blowing up, etc. Your Sansui is rated at 110 watts into 8 ohms, which should be plenty. The DALI's 4 ohm nominal impedance will not be too low for the amp. (Solid state ...
Dali Helicon 400 or Acoustic Zen Adagio?
Thanks Mike. I'm using the Vienna Acoustic Beethoven Baby Grand which does everything I need for my current room.Dave

Disc Doctor's manual cleaning system is superior to record cleaning machines, IMHO. You're able to focus on the parts that need special attention, where a RCM does every spot equally.Dave

Yeah, I'll chime in too, I'll bet there's something wrong with your table setup. Is your cartridge fresh?Dave
Review: Jeff Rowland Continuum 500 Amplifier
I drove down to Colorado Springs today to have Jeff install the phono stage modules in my Continuum 500. Installing the phono circuits took about 10-minutes but I ended up spending all day with Jeff. He's quite the philosopher and we took turns go...
Dali Helicon 400 or Acoustic Zen Adagio?
Sorry, but putting the Conrad Johnson CA200 "control amp" (somewhere over 300 watts into the DALI's 4 ohm-ish load) into the system did not fix the DALI's low bass extension issue. You really only hear it with extremely low notes as produced by sy...
Dali Helicon 400 or Acoustic Zen Adagio?
There are two potential problems with the DALI's bass, IME. One is a high potential that the bass will be woolly and uncontrolled with some amps. This is easily controlled by many amps, but the user just needs to be aware of this and select an amp...
Two terms I don't understand - please explain
Yeah, but nothing to do with rhythm and pace. Also, it no one here described timing accurately at all. An acronymn that's only 1/3d right is pretty misleading, IMHO.Dave
Sound bottlenecks: Cartridge-Amp-Speakers
Adding a subwoofer to you existing system will get you closer to what you seek within your budget. As said earlier, no full range in your price range is going to actually produce the specs that you quote.OTOH, the used Sonus speakers will likely b...
Building dedicated room with long RCA interconnect
If it's an option, then limiting high quality ICs to 1 to 1.5 meters is going to be best AND keeping the speaker cables down to 10' or less. However, that's not always possible. You have to weigh WAF, your own tastes, etc. into the equation. With ...
What's a good beginner turntable at $2500+- range?
Just listen, properly implemented, belt drive, idler wheel and direct-drive can all do a great job. In this price range don't focus on technology, but focus on the end product, the music.Dave
Building dedicated room with long RCA interconnect
A rack with both tne amp and pre-amp would be best. The rack doesn't have to be in the center, it could be at the side. If you can go balanced, which you can't, then a longer run of IC and a shorter run of speaker cable is best; however, a 20' run...

I vote for the Pro-ject RM10. Also consider the Clearaudio and VPI. IMHO, the Technics is not as resolving as any of these.Dave
pre-amp unacceptable noise level?
Humming sounds like a grounding problem. Is your TT grounded to the amp or pre-amp? You might try moving it around to different components. Are all you components plugged into same outlet? If not, try that. If none of that works, then try the cheat...
Dali Helicon 400 or Acoustic Zen Adagio?
Yeah, the 100w Primare was clearly not up to the task with the DALIs, yet the Rowland 102 stereo amps was much better. The rowland 501s were way better.I'll try again on Monday.Dave
