Be honest please John421-If that gear(NAD/JVC) is enough for you, that's great. For most of us on Agon we value sound quality over cost. FWIW someone that frequently quotes what something costs(expensive or inexpensive} has "assclown" tattooed on the forehead!
Solid State Amplifier Advancements In A Decade Mikelavigne-Thx for your insight since your opinions are by ownership NOT speculation!
what speaker new or used for 5k? If you like the VA sound move up the line. If you want more resolution look at the ATC SCM 40(new/used) or you might be able to stretch your budget for a used/demo ML Montis both speakers would be hard to beat at the $5k level when set up properly.
Anybody into 80s big music? Phasecorrect-Having hit records and a definite debut album has nothing to do with "getting it right" from a musical perspective. Many bands have that "definite" 1st release then start on a spiraling decline, The Call did just the opposite The Call...
Free $3K preamp to lucky listener who names it Add me to the list that dislikes Rhumba. I understand the synergy with Rhythm, and being an entry level model "Rhumba" is not as serious by definition as Rhythm. FWIW my choices were... Apollo/Stratosphere/Veracity. My guess is they thought these ...
Anybody into 80s big music? S1nn3r-Your list helps prove The Call is consistently overlooked!
Anybody into 80s big music? David + David had one of the best(non-metal)recordings of the 80's.
What is your favorite 1 hit wonder from the 70's? Martykl-Your correct! "Magic" peaked at #5 in 1975. Pilot never had another Top 40 Billboard hit. Loomisjohnson- If I was to include 1 R&B song(in my Top 10) "Be Thankful" would be at the top of my list(the LP version is killer)!
Songs that trigger you to switch the station or... "Stairway To Heaven" are you sure your a music lover? "Smells Like Teen Spirit"! The silly lyrics/poor vocals-musicianship only scratch the surface(lol)! The music media "praise" is not only laughable it's downright sinful!
The great Phil Woods has passed. Will find time to hear Floresta Canto this weekend to honor Mr. Phil Woods
Overshadowed by bandmates 1-Floyd Snead/Three Dog Night. 2-Brad Whitford/Aerosmith. 3-Roger Glover/Deep Purple. 4-Alex Lifeson/Rush. 5-Cedar Walton/Various. 6-Marty Balin/Jefferson(Airplane-Starship). 7-Maury Muehleisen/Jim Croce. 8-Jack Bruce/Cream. 9-Robby Krieger/The Do...
What is your favorite 1 hit wonder from the 70's? Roxy54-Not a problem, appreciate your input!
What is your favorite 1 hit wonder from the 70's? Donnie Iris-"Leah" peaked at #29(Billboard) in 1980. "Love is Like a Rock" hit #37 in 1981. Dobie Grey had a 1965 #13 hit "The In-Crowd" and another Top 40 song "You Can Do It" in 1979. FWIW- "Black Betty" does qualify as a true 1970's 1-hit wonder.
It Was 40 Years Ago Today... Bdp24-Great post. I would like to add and simplify, regarding your comments. Dylan and the Beatles created/influenced the singer songwriter genre. The Kinks/Steppenwolf/Blue Cheer helped create "arena rock". The Who/The Doors/The Animals/Pink Floy...
What is your favorite 1 hit wonder from the 70's? "Drift Away" and "Black Betty" are good choices but(IMO) don't enter my top ten. Gerry Rafferty had a mega #2 Billboard hit "Baker Street" in case you forgot? "Feelings" not a bad choice(don't like song)but have no problem with it being a top ten ... |
