New cart, step-up or ???
funny the same questions recur, I have a thread running now on the same subject, with the same mixed response. Some say having the dial at 12 does'nt matter and adding a step up will degrade the sound, others that the phono stage gain is inadequat...
How long does a stylus last?
If only I kept a cartridge long enough to wear it out. I get itchy feet after a year and want to move on, but my latest is a koetsu Rosewood Signature, so hopefully as some of the respondents intimated, I've reached my destination. Good advise tho...
How do you deal with vibration?
I was dubious about vibration, but saw a set of Aurios Classic 1.2 isolation devices and thought I'd give them a try. I'm not sceptical now, they seemed to help dramatically and my Shanling CDT 100 was already on an acrylic stand on vibrapods and ...
Why do no audio enthusiasts use McIntosh?
I have always liked the look of Mac, but in the UK, there really is'nt much exposure. The small London High end show was on last week and for whatever reason, at least 4 rooms were using the new Mac integrated tube or Transistor amps. They really ...
More output from Analog set up, MC Transformer?
Thanks again for all your advise, I know my system is quite polite anyway. The power amp, Aleph 3 and Living Voice speakers, have a lovely sound, but do'nt pin you to tour chair
what to think about when matching pre and amp
I use the CJ 17 with a Pass lab Aleph 3, which is supposed to be difficult to match because of input impedence I think, no problems. I agree with gregm, if it works, who cares if it should'nt be a good match.
What's your profession? Age?
56 and Family Doctor, unfortunately not a rich American one, but a British one. So I do'nt have a $200,000 system

Thankyou for the thoughtful responses and keep them coming. The Kondo is out of my price range, the Bentaudio Mu, sounds interesting, have you any more info about it, price website, etc. As you say Dougdeacon, I did'nt buy the Koetsu to blow my so...
L'Art du Son Record Cleaner
I have been using it with my Disco Antistat bath cleaner for a while. I feel it is at least as good as the fluid suppied with the antistat. The only bind is it needs 2 cycles, with a second distilled water wash. It is certainly economical, the dis...
Cables-how can you be sure of authenticity?
I am sure they exist, but I agree with other respondents, whats the point. It would be expensive to set up production of a convincing fake, the market for high end cable is small and most of all, how do you distribute them To justify production co...
D'oh I killed my cartridge...now what?
I do'nt know if you've bought anything yet, but I have being trying to sell a new, boxed, Benz Micro Glider, nude M2 for a year, nowone seems to know about them in the UK. It came as a freebie with the Origin Live illustrious/Resolution I recently...
Categorizing records
I forgot to add, what do you do when your cabinets for CD's and LP's are full and the wife says there is no room for any more. I have to grudgingly admit she may have a point. Do you: A) By the shelves anyway and take the flack. B) Change your buy...
Categorizing records
Cataloging, what a typically male pursuit, may I add my recomendation to whatch "High Fidelity", a good film anyway. At one point John Cusack, impresses a friend by saying he is recataloging his records by when they were bought and the relationshi...
