Tube-friendly speakers
Some Silverline are tube friendly, the Bolero for example, thouigh it's now quite expensive, but a lovely sound. I am on a similar journey myself. I listened to: Art Deco's, very nice but expensice Coincident Total Victory, not my cup of tea Devor...
Viva audio Solista mkII tubes & more...
I did change the 6SN7, with one recommended by the supplier, Upscale Audio. I did'nt hear much difference. Definitely I did with the 845, changing to a Shuangung 845C, a bit quieter and better base. They really are'nt that expensive, bought direct...
Moving into vinyl. Brinkman, TW Raven, GrandPrix??
toffeng I spoke to Thomas at the London show a year ago and he said the One gives you 95% of the performance of the AC for, what, about half the price. If you want to save a bit more on the arm, he uses an Ortofon 309 on his one and says, again, i...
Moving into vinyl. Brinkman, TW Raven, GrandPrix??
I tend to agree with Peter, start, with something small and cheap. Not necessarily a Thorens. If you have no vinyl at the moment, I am not sure I would spend north of $20000. Mind you, I can't afford $20000, with 3000LPs. Thats kids at University ...
Cartridge and step up / riaa for TW Acustic Raven
The Raven and Phantom should be a wonderful combination. I use the Accustic Raven one with an Ortofon 309D. I have used 3 cartridges with it and with the One, you just seem to hear the essential charcter of the cartrige. the first was a Zyx Airy 3...
Zingali HM-215 horn speakers
I have auditioned a pair of the intro line, contours I believe and heard a pair of top of the line Signatures. I wanted to like them, they look so great, but I am afraid, they were'nt for me. I do'nt like horns at the best of times, but I found th...
TW Raven One owners- will this be it ?
HiFitime.... Do you meajn your bones are'nt meant to groan, getting out of the chair? Mine have been for years. Well I am 61, why is age relevant here? Lets "fess up" and admit all my turntable buys/mistakes Thorens 160B for 20 years Linn LP12 var...
Upgrade from TW Acustic Raven AC-3 to what?
I have oftem wondered at which point the law of diminishing returns, starts to apply. If you are choosing quality components, then I believe you need to at least increase investment by 50, perhaps 100%, to get a meaningful improvement. Below that,...
Your Favorite Top 10 tuners all time
I use a Creek T43 I enjoy a lot. I am tempted by Magnum Dynalab, which seems to get great reviews, but not fit into many peoples favourite list. I was looking at the 90T. Can I ask what people have against them, where their deficiencies lie? Many ...
Power Cords for TW Raven AC & Levinson 390
I tried some expensive cables on hand with my Raven one motor. I could'nt detect any difference, so I just use a cheap one now.
Integrated SS amps - Luxman vs. Simaudio Moon?
Hope I am not highjacking the thread, but an obvious comarator to the Luxman 590 is the Accuphase E 550. They look very similar, similar size, price and specifications. Both come with 30watts of Class A and similar onboard goodies, such as a phono...
Favourite Vinyl female and male vocals
Great list, I have'nt heard Johhny Hartman , I will follow that up. Some other suggestions I can't see so far: Karrin Allyson "Blue", if you can find it. Nowone mentioned Frank Sinatra, just anything, particularly from the Capitol years Lorna Hunt...
Pass Labs and DeVore Nines Combo??
Excuse me if I am wrong, but I thought the int-150 was based on the x150 and was A/B, not Class A, albeit with a healthy bit of class A at lower output. I happen to agree that Class a sounds better than A/B, particularly with easy to drive speaker...
Help with final choice of efficient speakers
Well I went to RMAF and enjoyed it enourmously by the way. Of the speakers I listened to, I liked Silverline, but the Bolero's were too expensive. The merlins were very nice, LSA, Von Scheikert with Moscode, but I ordered the Daedalus Da-Rma's, wh...
Any experience with Copper Mat on Raven One
Clabe Take a look at Stereomojo on line. There is a recent review of the ttweights system, copper platter, outer ring and central weight, on a Raven one. It was moderately favourable. I had a look at ttweights at RMAF recently. Very high quality a...
