what can go under an LP12?
I have a Townsend Seismic Sink under my LP12.It is a major improvement in pace and timing for the table.Several years ago, one of the Linn reps suggested this to me. For some unknown reason it never got popular.
Integrated amp for my Sonus Faber Guarneri
With my new pair of Guarneri Hommage's, I am using a Jeff Rowland model 8 ( 250 watts per channel) and it is magic.Seems like these two were made for each other. Try and hear the model 8 without mods if you can, the original choke power supply is ...
Top Ten Speakers of All Time?
Just bought a new pair of Sonus Faber Guarneri Homage speakers. They replaced my Hales System 2 Sig's and are far more musical.Having heard many speakers in the last 25 years, the G's are a real piece of art and IMHO the best speaker for small ens...
Personal speaker evolution
Just sold my Hales Sig 2's after having loved them for 16 years. Before that Acoustats and before those Maggie 1c's.The Hales were wonderful, but after all that time the tweeter began to bug me.Replaced with a new pair of Sonus Faber Guarneri Homa...
Has anyone heard the Magico Mini?
Drubin,I read Henryhk's review of the Magico's. However, I am more interested in hearing from someone who actually owns the speakers. In a dealer setting, speakers are not usually at their best and with the Mini's, I am wandering if they will also...
Volume and Bass levels at LA HE Show
I went into the Mbl room and asked them to play a piece on the Pope music sampler CD. The gentleman from Mbl asked me how high I wanted the demo. I told him very low, so he pushed the volume control down what seemed like a tiny amount if at all. I...
Best Sounding Room at the HE 2006 Show?
IMHO the Lamm room was the best sound at the show. The Acoustic Image room did not have the Lamm/Wilson's stage width or depth or purity of timbre. The losss of width was possibly due to the fact that the ESP's were in a smaller room and again IMH...
Home Entertainment Show in Los Angeles
Macrojack makes some very good points IMHO. He probably forgets that Wilson caters to the buyer who makes $1 Million a year or more. So $30K is pretty much chump change to these guys. Not sure why they are only $30K for the 8's and $135K for the A...
Blown up my Sennheiser 600's
Viridian, Thanks for the advice. Forgot to mention that I run the Cardas headphone cable to the phones and the connector's are pretty solid.
Home Entertainment Show in Los Angeles
Nilthepill, I listened to the mBL's, Acapella's and the Dynaudio's.Again, IMHO the Lamm room was extraordinary with better integration etc. The Mbl's and the Acapella's were impressive, however, I felt that the Mbl room was too loud and the speake...
Home Entertainment Show in Los Angeles
Just got back from the show.. As usual, a couple of good sounding rooms and a lot of very poor sounding rooms. What stuck me as interesting was the consistancy of pricing.Speakers typically between $4K and $100K with 90% costing between$10k to $50K...
A brutal review of the Wilson Maxx
Many times in the past, people have said to me that their systems are really close to the sound of real live unamplified music. Its when I proceed to play my Taylor next to their system do their jaws drop... NOT even close. That is one of my pet pe...
A brutal review of the Wilson Maxx
Intersting thread, having never heard the Max 2's so I would never presume to comment on their sound quality. One of the things I learnt over 25 years ago when I got into this hobby ( that's what it is BTW, nothing more/nothing less) was to listen ...
EAD DSP 7000/9000 .... Best DACs ?????
The EAD 7000/9000's are still more than competetive today IMHO.Having listened to many DAC's over the last couple of years, including ML Dacs and the DCS pieces, the EAD's were again IMHO in the same league.
Hales Design Group speakers....how good were they?
Interesting thread.. I have owned the System 2 Signatures for about 15 years. When he came out with them, the system 2 Signatures were the ones that put Paul Hales on the map.Harry Pearson gave them a mini rave and Robert Harley used them as his re...
