Tube Integrated with Headphone
Dared i30.
"NEWEST'" Favorite album
I thought album titles go in single quotes, while song titles go in doubles, as so:"Money" from 'Dark Side of the Moon'BTW, I'm digging last year's 'The Whirlwind' by Transatlantic.
A major disconnect between the audiophile magazine
Excellent version of "Echoes," BTW... though it's hard to find a bad one. (Also, check out "Any Colour You Like" from the Boston 1975 ROIO-- you'll just feel like you're stoned.
Last time you felt that "tingling" sensation?
Two nights ago, listening to a live version of Pink Floyd's "Any Colour You Like" from a 1975 ROIO (recording of unknown origin)called 'Echoes in the Gardens' (Boston garden)on a Mac laptop while watching the 'Visualizer.' Proof that it's the musi...
Musical Fidelity V-Can Headphone Amp
I had a X-Can V3 and felt that the X-PSU made an easily audible improvement and was a worthwhile addition, especially for $200. However, there are lots of tube amp alternatives; a visit to head-fi.com will give you some ideas and/or make your head...
Bring on the criticism...
I did this when I blew the tweeters in my JBL L88's in the '70's. Removed the tweeters and sent them to JBL for repair/replacement (which they did with no charge, even though I was not the original owner of the speakers. Wow!) Anyway, I had a mont...
Recommend a DAC
Bear in mind that transport does make a substantial difference. I bought a Reimyo DAP-777 DAC (for $2400 on A'gon), but could not get the sound I expected until I upgraded transport from a Sony DVD player to a Theta Jade.
Is Cary 306 SACD PRO an upgrade over Reimyo DAP777
This is tough to answer given all the ancillary gear involved. I have a DAP-777 (Mark I) fed by a Theta Jade transport. I listen exclusively thru headphones (Sony MDR-R10) fed by a Ray Samuels Raptor tube amp. Listening thru headphones in this set...
Doors Documentary 5-12 on PBS
Thanks much... just set the DVR. I was a tepid Doors fan until I read a couple of Jim Morrison bio books a couple of years ago. Having that background adds a whole new dimension to the music. (Plus I love the Oliver Stone movie).
roger waters taking the wall on the road...yes/no
I saw the original at Nassau Coliseum in February of 1980. The ticket was the most I had ever paid for a concert-- $15.Good show from what I remember (lol). No encore, tho-- stage littered with cardboard bricks.
Leben CS-300 compared to Red Wine
You might want to contact Vinnie Rossi at Red Wine and ask him, or maybe inquire about a loaner. I can't speak for Vinnie, but I've met him at a couple of head-fi shows in the NYC area, and he's a really nice guy.
Is there a good 5 disc CD player out there ???
If you're thinking about a typical ("low end") 5-disc player feeding a DAC, bear in mind that the transport has an ENORMOUS influence on the sound, and you will not get the full potential out of a good DAC. I've used 5 or 6 different players/trans...
Need help identifying these cool speakers?
They look quite a bit like Moth Cicada's, but not exactly.
Quick poll How long have you been in this hobby?
Pioneer SX-838 receiver, Dual 1229 TT with Shure M95ed cart, JBL L-88's and a Wollensak 4765 cassette deck. Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, Yessongs... man, that system rocked!Today, I'm headphone-centric, with a pair of Sony MDR-R10 headphones (the sill...
the greatest pop song ever?
