Favorites Alone In Quiet Darkness
Morton Feldman. Start with Rothko Chapel. And I second the "Paris, Texas" soundtrack, though I can't stand Wim Wenders films. And the Trinity Sessions. And, yeah, everything sounds better in the dark.

Jelena Jensen the zaftig nude model?Or do you mean Janine Jansen the violinist?
Best Bang for $2000 System Upgrade?
This sounds like an already very fine system. An alternative to the Duet is to get a Classic and use an iPhone or iPod Touch to control it with the iPeng app. The larger and more sophisticated display of the Apple i-devices is definitely a plus. I ...
Lexicon BD-30 universal player
According to Audioholics, the Lexicon is literally a BD-83 dropped into a new case, chassis and all.
Michell Gyro Se running a little slow
Do you have the stock power supply or the PSU upgrade? Both do have speed adjustments, but you have to open up the stock power supply to get to it. I use the Kab Speedstrobe to check my speed.
Classical Music LPs recommendations
Look for London Stereo Treasury Lps with an orange label. These tend to be excellent pressings, but are not expensive on the used market (at least for now).
J.A. Mitchell TecnoDec vs. Clearaudio Emotion CMB
A $500 cartridge should have no problem "resolving" the difference between tables. I graduated from the Benz L2 to the under $400 AT33PTG.If it were me, I'd hold out for a Gyro.
Notes on Harbeth, Vandersteen, Avalon & Spendor
Having owned Quatros for 6 months now, I have to say I have no idea what Fremer meant by TMI as it relates to these speakers. Maybe my associated equipment is not "good" enough. Most of my listening is classical music on mainstream RBCD.
thinking about ripping some vinyl any suugestions?
I use an M-Audio Audiophile USB, a Macbook, and Audacity for recording with very good results.
Does your system do things better in the dark?
A reduction of visual distractions definitely makes for a much better listening experience.OK, OK, it's because the aether is thicker in the dark so that the aetherial vibrations travel better.
Spade plugs for 16gauge cables
What size spades can the terminals accept? If your terminals can accept them, I like the Audioquest 1/4" spades because their semi-circular shape allows for a more secure connection if you rotate them a quarter turn or so after sliding them into p...
Would a Better Phono Amp Improve Budget System?
In my experience, yes, changing the phono section can have a huge effect on quality of the sound. But the effect is very rig dependent, particularly cartridge dependent. This is not a component I'd buy without hearing in your rig first.
J.A. Mitchell TecnoDec vs. Clearaudio Emotion CMB
The TechnoDec is not a suspended design.
Scheherazade by Rimsky-Korsakov
For excitement, Stokowski/LSO on Cala, though the over-the top Phase 4 sonics will never win any audiophile awards for refinement. The Cala issue is greatly superior to any previous CD issues.
New TT-- new problem
Yes, all cables have capacitance, but they vary in capacitance per foot and length, and thus total capacitance. Increasing/decreasing total capacitance will change the frequency response of the cart. Maybe this page will help:http://www.hagtech.co...
