Want More Bass Get a sub, dude, and be happy.
Harbeth C7- Tube or solid state power? They were designed using Quad ss amps. Most of us that converse on the Harbeth user group use ss amps and are quite happy.Good luck,Charlie
Noisy pot? Sift out the seeds, dude.
State of the art remote pre amp? Reality? I would include the Z-Systems rdp-1. This is a digital pre-amp and equalizer. Works perfectly, but requires an anologue-digital converter for analogue hook ups. (They sell these too.)Charlie
Miles Davis Kind of Blue...any options on cd? I also have the Columbia/Legacy SBM, but mine is CK 64935. This reissue corrects for proper speed off the master tape. Older versions had some cuts that were apparently recorded a little slow and the pitch was off.Enjoy,Charlie
Amp On or Off? Off when not in use. Ask you amp's designer if it sounds different, in their experience, after it has been on a while. My designer said turn it off, but not tell anyone, if I wanted to stay in the "club." I do not appreciate in difference in sound...
Power cord for an REL Sub Overboard. (Unless you buy one from dekay, then it is OK.)
Upper midrange glare prominence -- EQ rules! You could get a Z-Systems rdp-1 for a measly 5K.Charliep.s. Rives is correct, as is becoming their pattern here. (Careful, Rives, they will run you away if you start making too much sense.)
Digital direction Bel Canto DACs are very good. All my HDCD discs sound very nice via this upsampling dac.Charlie
How to tame the high of harbeth C7 Mark,I used to use a Creek 5350SE with my C7s. It worked perfectly. A bit underpowered for large scale orchestral moments, but listening in near-field, I never pushed it to clipping. Please don't fool with the speakers. Mr Shaw did all that for yo...
How to tame the high of harbeth C7 Note: anyone who says "inherent sizzle in these bbc type desings" has never heard a pair of Harbeth Compact 7ES-II. Take any advice with a huge grain of salt.Charliep.s. What cds do you notice this with?
How to tame the high of harbeth C7 Well, sir, it sure is not the speakers. I use my C7s on 22 inch stands and listen in near-field and they are not bright. (They are just RIGHT!) Everyone's suggestions as to looking at room interactions seem like the way to go. Something is wrong, ...
Is there a cd player that sounds close to an LP? You probably have "bright" audiophile type speakers and there is a particular drop off in your cartridge that offsets the tizziness that is inherent in you speakers. (It probably does sound better.) Don't use cables as tone controls, I bet you wou...
What CD titles to get from BMG???? Get yourself some Lyle Lovett cds and enjoy.Charlie
looking for a chair I use an "office" chair which pneumatically adjusts in height and is just high enough to rest my upper neck/lower head on the back, which is quite comfortable and does not reach my ears to reflect anything. Best of both worlds.Charlie |
