Names of Bands... Lynyrd Skynyrd was the [misspelled] name of a high school teacher. Wet Willie is a, well, wet willie. I don't want to know about the Butthole Surfers.Charliep.s. Jethro Tull, I think, also invented the seed drill.
Cd Recorders? I have had the same good experience with my Pioneer 839. Even the "analogue" copies, (copy of a copy is in this mode,) are very good. Highly recommended due to ease of use and quality of recordings.Charlie
Todays Raido Stations suck Yes sir. I remember fondly the local night DJ playing album rock, of his choosing (!), each evening. Maybe it was because we had the same taste in music, but the variety was there, and I looked forward to hearing something new most every night. It...
Perfect Pitch? I, for one, am glad I do not have perfect pitch. It would seem a curse to agonize over missed notes occuring during any performance. Charlie
PayPal Surcharge I want my 3% back from all you crooks who sold me stuff. And if you plan to use a credit card, please add 3%.Charlie

classical suggestions There are many good "sampler" type discs which would allow you to hear popular selections from multiple composers on the same cd. The Naxos label is always a good value, and a quick search on a site like Tower Records, where you can hear parts of ...
The Cat on the Amp Good idea. Also simply using aluminum foil can sometimes startle them when they jump on and be just noxious enough to elicit behavioral modification. (Shock and awe is good too.)Charlie Daniell, DVM
which monitor for audio refinement int. amp? I vote for Spendor or Harbeth.
Chicago Audio Society June Meeting Thank you both for the info. I know you will have a great time. (Be sure to let us all know if you find some "sleeper" gear, after all.)Charlie
Best bang-for-buck purchase you have made? Carver Z modular amps. In my case they are two of the A220s at about $350, and the excellent A-760x which I bought for less than $700.
Chicago Audio Society June Meeting Do you know if the meeting will include any practical evaluations of gear? (For example, did not you guys find the [very inexpensive] Teac changer to be an outstanding transport in years past?)Charlie
Harbeth C7- Tube or solid state power? Excellent, sir. Welcome to the club. I think you may have discovered something by uncoupling those stands. It is an audiophile myth that stands are so important, but I will not waste time here defending that position. You can email me on the side ...
Someone help me Sound Too Thin ????? It is the speakers, without question. I hope you have the opportunity to hear a BBC monitor like Harbeth or Spendor, and soon. Your musical tastes demand it. Read the reviews if it gives you confidence, but the Harbeth Compact 7ES-II [I use] will ...
Harbeth C7- Tube or solid state power? Mark, down the road you might consider a subwoofer. I use an M&K MX 700 with my C7s and it gives me all the pedals on an organ beautifully. Stand tweaking is not the answer.Charlie |
