Please help, distorted and hissy treble Cold solder joints? Secure ground leads? If all was working well before you re-wired then recheck all of the connections. There may also be some breakin in the new wires but that would not sound like what you are describing. You didn't hit the MM/...
Well, it LOOKS like crap... Before you go making something more permanent, I would suggest trying something other than MDF. An easy experiment would be birch plywood. Maybe not all of the MDF, just the one in contact with the TT. You might just grab a small end table from th...
Cartridge break-in: with or without tears? Susan, the funnier thing is now that you've gotten a taste of doing vinyl well you'll really be depressed if you spend the money on the Wadia! Unless maybe you get it used.
Shure V15VxMR to be discontinued Mine just arrived today. Second one of these cartridges I've owned.
How hard should I be scrubbing my...... I agree with Newbee. I have the DD brushes and I like to feel that nap working so I use a light touch.
Which table to choose - Rega P3 or Music Hall MM7 Hi Jakeman,I used to own a MMF 7 and I really think they are good for the money especially if you can pick one up used. If you think you will keep it for a long time I think you would be well served by the Music Hall. That being said I tend to agr...
Which cartridge for MMF-7 Add the V15VxMR to your list. Works great on that table.
Should the platter and plinth be level? Slate1,Don't worry so much about the tonearm/platter angle. What is important is the angle of the stylus to the record. That is why we have all of these adjustments, VTA, azimuth, overhang, etc. Get the platter level then adjust whatever you need ...
Budget MC Suggestions? I have used the V15VxMR in the past but not on the RB 250 that I have now. It was on a Music Hall with the Pro-ject arm. It really is a very good cartridge. I currently have the 103R that Jphii recommended. It is not broken in yet, neither is the ...
Home Spindle Lube Test "Of course, I know that someone is going to start hearing differences in the sound of the oils"Yep, I heard a difference. Interestingly it was the lighter stuff that I found to have less bearing noise, but keep in mind the turntable bearing I'm re...
$800 Cartridge Shootout and Upgrade Path Very good choices, Artar1. I have considered most of that combo myself, except I had though of using the Encounter. Best of luck with it!Chris, no problem about the 2001. Heck, I don't even know what it would do with a wood floor, though I suspect...
Home Spindle Lube Test I agree. About the only thing you could do to cause harm is to not use any lubrication. Heck, even water is a lubricant. I judge a spindle lube based on how much extra noise I hear or don't hear from the platter.
Home Spindle Lube Test Let me throw out another one to try. Automatic Transmission Fluid, some good stuff like Valvoline. I did this type of experiment in a MMF 7 I used to own and I liked this stuff a bit more than the Mobile One that Music Hall recommends.
Shure V15VxMR to be discontinued Maybe it will happen, it sounds like it is not a done deal. I also see that Needle Doctor is selling these for almost twice what you can get it for at another dealer.
$800 Cartridge Shootout and Upgrade Path Rushton is right on the money concerning my "bright" characterisation of the Rhea. To put things in context I was moving from a MMF 7/834P setup to a Basis 2001/Rhea combination. So it is understandable that at the time I would get this as a first... |
