Difference in Music Hall tonearms?
I can't help with the arm differences but I did have a 9 on my MMF 7. It is a decent arm but probably not useful other than on a Music Hall or Pro-ject table. It seem to hold settings very well. VTA is a bit of a hassle but no more so than a Rega....
Results from Beta Testers of New Formulas
Sean and all,I don't dispute the need to break surface tension with some materials, but without knowing what stuff came off Jphii's records I would hesitate to say that heavy does of surfactant is the answer to all cleaning issues. Perhaps it is t...
Best excuse for playing loud music?
Cuz this one goes to eleven.
Is the Teres a
Thanks for the clarification, George. I'm curious about this point also since I am in the planning stages of doing my own Teres. (I'm not quite ready to start ordering parts, maybe in October. I need to finish building my stereo rack first.) I do ...

What do you mean by "official one", George?

Go for it, Eldartford! Let us know how the Oxyclean works out. I guess if we see you pop up on one of those tv commercials we could take that as a sign that it worked for you! :)Or you could just crack open that wallet of yours, brush back the cob...

Based on Slipknot's report I am left wondering which of the two parts had the most impact on cleaning the record. This is purely a guess on my part but I would suspect that the enzyme solution may give the greatest improvement since enzymes are re...
DVD Player, Better Sound?
I agree with Drhst20. I recently went from a mid-80's Marantz CDP to a more recent, last 3 years, CDP with a tubed analog stage. The difference was huge. There are some very good all digital units out there today. I don't think that DVD is anythin...
What's under your Classe Omega, or other big amp?
Thanks, Nrchy. I don't know a machinist but I'm sure I could find a shop around if I needed to go that route. I checked on the web and it looks like I can get some Audio Points made to order. A set of 4 for $140 doesn't sound so bad for an experim...
What's under your Classe Omega, or other big amp?
Nrchy, SquidboywI'd like to try the brass cones. Which cones would you recommend?Jim,My listening room is also a basement setup like yours except I don't have a pad under the berber. I don't have an Omega but I do have a pair of 301's. They're cur...
RRL Cleaner, Vinyl Zyme, and Groove Glide
Styx,Just drill two 3/16" holes on either side of crevice tool. These will allow for vacuum release and you can easily cover them with your thumb and finger if/when you need to boost the vacuum. As to sucking up the velvet, did you glue velvet str...
Is this why my analog rig isn't so hot?
George,If I am thinking of the same person who gave up on the Teres, it does come to mind that this person did concede that perhaps he didn't have the best suited stand for it. Every table has it's fans and detractors. But as we all know this whol...
Is this why my analog rig isn't so hot?
Ken,Thanks for giving us some examples of the tables you're comparing the Basis to. I am not familiar with the sound of many of these but at least I now I think I have a base to make some analysis for myself. I may be misinterpreting your preferen...
Is this why my analog rig isn't so hot?
"There's so little to say about something so wrong." Careful, don't commit to a real position on anything too specific.I suggest that others go and read the rest of Yourmama's posts here on Audiogon. He/she seems very good at knocking down whateve...
Is this why my analog rig isn't so hot?
Now, now. You're going to have to do better than that, Yo'mama. You sound like one of the reviewers from the magazines. Lots of generalizations and no real specifics. C'mon, give us some comparisons between Basis tables and others, or even Basis ta...
