I have my table now I need a phono, please help I had an 834P and liked it a lot. At the time it was the first tube piece in my system. Very musical and 3-D sound. So then I had it modified, all new Auricaps, resistors and NOS tubes. Took that little black box to a whole new level. Everything t...
Cleaning with minimum fuss and cost ? You could build your own vacuum RCM. I did and it works great.
what's your latest music "score" Oh great! Albertporter is recommending another group I'm probably going to like and will have to spend the next few months searching and shelling out for their music! I almost complete my collection of Dead Can Dance and now I'm going to have to g...
Anyone paired BAT 51se with solid state amp? A fellow A'goner, Beemer, has used a 50se with Levinson amps with great success. The output impedance on the 51 and 50 is the same so I bet it'll sound wonderful. I'm currently using a 50se with a pair of Classe SS amps. Yeah, tube pre and SS amps...
Phono Preamp for MH MMF-7 I once had a MM7/EAR 834P set-up. They work very well together. A tube phono is very easy on tubes so maintenance is not an issue. The EAR's also respond very well to tube rolling.
Teres Owners - Please help I can't comment on the Teres tables, but I can tell you that I have one of the Synergy S40 racks in my HT system. I would not site a TT on one of these, at least not long term. These racks move alot, I mean alot! Even with everything tightened dow...
Where is Your Turntable? Well, you can tell where mine is by my system pictures, but for those who don't wish to look it is behind and almost centered between the speakers on top of a DIY stand. I toyed with placing everything opposite the speakers (and I still may), but ...
Analog - Bang For Buck Add Music Hall to your list of tables that come reasonably well set-up from the factory. One thing to consider being that you are willing to learn. There are some tables that don't have VTA and other adjustments at all. IME you learn how to do the ...
MH MMF-7 seems high/lean/bright sounding? In addition to VTA probably being a little off, that lean sound could also improve with playtime. Sounds like everything is new from your description. It could take anywhere from 20 to 150 hours for things to start sounding right. Be patient, go s...
Do You Have a Homemade Record Cleaning Machine? Posting pics to the thread is supposed to be so easy, and it probably is, but I've never been able to get it to work. The simplest thing is to post it to your system.
Do You Have a Homemade Record Cleaning Machine? I'm working on photo's, Paul. I'd put my DIY RCM up against any VPI as far as how effective it is at getting records clean and I spent about $65 building it. It ain't pretty and spins manually, but boy does it suck! :)
HELP best analog system brand new for $5,000.00 Do you have any vinyl? If not, I'd say put about $1200 into the table, arm, cartridge (used Rega, used Music Hall, etc) and about $600 to $1200 into the phono stage (EAR, Haggerman, just stay with tubes). Put the rest into cleaning supplies, a few...

Basis and table mats? Thanks for posting the info, Shventus. So there was no changing of the motor pulley?WOW! $125! Do these tape belts really vary that much in thickness? I think I'll try some DIY solutions first to see if the tape makes a difference in what I experi...
