Turntables New vs Used Uhhhmmmm. Palm Beach, uh. Sorry, think I'll pass. Not what it used to be, you know.
A question for the Pro's in setting up analog good I'm guessing that the 1.5 listing is for a nominal force. You could try a few tenths above and below that without much worry, say 1.3 to 1.7. But you may want to just leave at 1.5 while you dial in VTA. Just remeber that a few small changes in VTA...
A question for the Pro's in setting up analog good Hi again, Matrix. Here is a link that many of the A'gon experts turned me on to so I'll pass it along. Sorry, I'm too lazy to turn this into a hyper link. There is alot of very good information here and will answer your questions about adjustments ...
I'm Stuck, MMF9 vs. MMF7 vs. Scout vs. Space deck Hi Matrix,I used Cardas clips and Litz wire. I even changed out the RCA connectors with Vampires. Probably about $50 total and a couple of hours on a Saturday. You do need to be able to solder but nothing special about that. But you're right, you ...
I'm Stuck, MMF9 vs. MMF7 vs. Scout vs. Space deck I love my cats. They are not allowed in my listening room. But I do have the luxury of a dedicated listening room. You have to make a decision, if possible, to exclude the precious feline from the room while vinyl is spinning. That's my PC side. My...
Differences between three turntables My .02, check out the Basis 2001 that is listed here on the 'gon. I have no affiliation with the seller or Basis, other than I am a former 2001 and MMF-7 owner.1st, it has the same motor that is used on the Basis Debut so there is no speed stabili...
I'm Stuck, MMF9 vs. MMF7 vs. Scout vs. Space deck Wow! That's a great deal. I think if you stay with any medium mass and high compliance cartridge the Project will do fine. As far as the Dynavectors, a well regarded A'goner once recommended a 10x4 to me for my MMF-7. I believe that is a high outp...
I'm Stuck, MMF9 vs. MMF7 vs. Scout vs. Space deck I'll second Jependleton on the MMF-7. I'm not convinced that the MMF-9 is worth the extra money. I had a MMF-7 for a year and a half before I moved up to my Basis 2500. The 7 is a very good performer, perhaps a bit dark and speed challenged but no...
importance of phono cartridge Alun, I would agree that the stand is very important. Especially considering non-suspended tables. However, there are very well designed suspended tables that don't much care what they sit on, within reason.I think this discussion has morphed abit...
importance of phono cartridge As to your question. Let's assume that your price points do indeed translate to 3 times better performance from the arm and table. Also I'll make the assumption that we use the same middle of the road cartridge on both arm/table combos. In my expe...
phono preamps with a subsonic filter? Another point to consider when dealing with sub-sonics and the woofer dance is to be sure that your amps can supply PLENTY and I mean PLENTY of current. Even though you don't hear anything, it is taking a boat load of amps to move those woofers.
Need help, Have a new Phono stage need to set it. I would guess 47KOhms and about 40 dB for a start. If it sounds like it is too soft for an average volume setting then you can step the gain up accordingly. You're correct that the higher gains are for MC's. I am guessing that any MM cartridge tha...
Need vintage idler drive help. No, Johnnatais, I don't mean to "snipe" at anyone. My appologies, I should have made that clear in my post. I thought this was going to be another thread on the "DD and Idlers are superior" theme.
Need vintage idler drive help. Cute, but this theme is getting tired. I have Lenco. I can do just about whatever you want in a plinth. It sounds pretty good, but it's not replacing anything.
The Cable Company - Wow Sorry. Speakers. I'm bi-amping, thus the discussion on seperation of HF and LF. |
