More power for better sound at low volumes?
I would think your amp's input sensitivity and your speakers' sensitivity are the main factors. Also I think the noise floor and distortion figures are a contributing factor in that the lower they are, the higher the volume you can comfortably tol...
Ground Loop in HT system???...HELP
I have a separate receiver for HT. When that receiver is turned on, I have a similar issue, regardless of whether the TV or cable box is. When it's not, I don't, regardless of whether the TV or cable box is. If you don't have a separate receiver, ...
Fast power cables?
Did you get a good deal on it?
Any new tweaks out there?
My goodness Geoff. What does your gear retail for in comparison to the articles you just noted?
Fast power cables?
Check out the IEC thread, get yourself the cheapest shielded cord, and see what happens. This should eliminate not only the electrical issues, but also the hysteria.
Any new tweaks out there?
Bryon, there's a thread revival going on about IEC's right now. My response to this, and I did watch the video, is why not just eliminate the IEC and go directly to the board and thus eliminate all the other issues associated with this imo, stupid...
Fast power cables?
Debatable differences amount to no difference at all, really. If you want to increase the speed of your amp, you have to deal with the internals. When you do, everyone is impressed.

Yeah right. Coconuts make me think of monkeys. By the looks of those photos, I think Darwin may have been right about the missing link. I remember that thread about Elizabeth's tweak. But I'm not really interested in relatively insignificant tweak...
Any new tweaks out there?
I love hearing success stories. But have I no peers? I've only destroyed one amp and one pair of speakers and that was over thirty years ago. I still have them tucked away in a closet . Everything I've tried since then has been with success albeit...

That's what I like to see, the chickens coming home to roost after a long hard day of pecking.
lock or solder the speaker wire in the banana
I have to respectfully disagree with you folks on this. I have tried every type and the best result by far has been to solder. The key to success is direct metal to metal contact visa-vi the cable wire and plug/spade/bare wire- binding post. Hence...
Active crossovers
This is a question regarding bias pots in general. My experience has been that they don't hold their adjustment for very long. This is the case for all the amps I've owned. They may stay close to the mark, but still drift. The issue is not that th...
Active crossovers
Sorry guys. I've been away. I hope this thread isn't dead. I have to apologize as I'm out of the loop in regards to this entire conversation and completely illiterate to the jargon. I have a pair of JBL 2440 compression drivers with horns and Hart...
All Amps Sound the Same....
Unsound, the easy solution to your statement is to go active and eliminate the passive crossover which imo is a dinosaur anyway. Now you have serious sensitivity with the ability to precisely tailor response.
All Amps Sound the Same....
Imagine if they were all built like my Ampzillas! Hail the King!
