BEL 1001 service in 2013? This is the company that acquired the rights although I do not believe anything has come of it: http://www.audiosumma.com.I have read that Brooks Berdan in Monrovia, CA has a tech that can service these. My own experiences in dealing with Brooks B...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? Well I have lurked around here for some time. It has been very satisfying to read about everyone's opinions, stories, and experiences with MM/MI cartridges. My own real experience with them started in 1996 when I purchased a Grado Platinum to use ...
Cost no object tonearm for DL-103 Raul, it is because of the MM/MI thread that I have this arsenal. Except for the B&O which I purchased new nearly 20 years ago, the others were purchased based on recommendations in that thread. I will make a note to post back over there with ...
What is the missing element? I really do not think enough credit is given to the advances made to enable USB to be a very viable solution for computer audio. I was a skeptic for a really long time. I still have my CEC TL-51X transport lying around. With my Lessloss DAC I can ...
Cost no object tonearm for DL-103 Banquo, yes that would be the Denon DP-3000 as totally refurbished by Masa Tsuda at Concert Fidelity. It's an all Denon set up. As an alternative I use a Denon DA-401 with either Grace F9, B&O MMC-2, or Sumiko Talisman Alchemist III-S.
Cost no object tonearm for DL-103 FWIW I use a Denon DA-307 with my DL-103D. I would not say it is cost no object but it is a great match, especially with the PCL-5 head shell.
SET amps ? You might be surprised at how far 8 watts of SET power can take you. The DeCapo's are very good and an easy load to drive. Depending on your room size and how loud you like to listen, 8 watts could easily work. A lot will depend on the quality of ...
What is the missing element? First of all in addition to Steve Nugent you have Gordon Rankin. Both of these guys were pioneers in the computer audio world and have contributed a great deal to it. Without them computer audio wouldn't be where it is today. As to the best format...
SET amps ? When a "?" is used to me that is an interrogative. So IMO the OP is asking a question as to whether or not this is the time to try a SET amp. My answer is simply "maybe," but don't rule out a push-pull.
SET amps ? I have spent quite a bit of time in the last couple of years listening to SET and OTL amps with my reasonably efficient speakers. I enjoy both equally as much. So much so I am now part of a group that manufactures SET amps and just recently became...
Need Speakers to be Close to Wall $10k budget Audiokinesis and Audio Note would be worth looking into but as stated earlier you have nothing to lose by trying out the Audio Physics speakers to see how they would work.Deal disclaimer: I am an Audiokinesis dealer.
Any experience with EZ-80s, 5687s or Bendix 6900s? The OP must have checked out. Can't think of any other reason that an apology would not have been issued.
Any experience with EZ-80s, 5687s or Bendix 6900s? Fmpnd, Why didn't you just send the tubes back for a refund? Seems like that would have made the most sense. Are you sure they were bad? Did you have them tested to be certain? That is what I would have done. Certainly a better option than trashin...
Calling all Horn lovers I have owned Audiokinesis Jazz Modules for about 5 years now. In fact I am the person Duke mentioned that could reach out and touch the speakers in my setup. At that time I had a very small listening space and at one point I just decided to plop d...
