Does the volume control effect sound quality? The Atma-Sphere M-60 amps are available with a volume control upgrade that IIRC is implemented at the amps input. Pretty sure it is a stepped attenuator as well.
Replacement for Maggie's? I tried a set of Maggie's purchasing a used 1.6QR. I tried to like them but while I was amazed at their ability to image and create a huge sound stage, their lack of bass was a big issue for me. I am not a sub woofer fan so that was not an option....
Anyone modded a Steelhead? Still using the Decware and 3A's.?
One more time: autoformers? The Atma-Sphere amp I own will put out more power into higher impedances up to a certain point, which I believe is 32 ohms. After that point the power will drop. So you really need to know the impedance peaks of the speaker and where they occur as...
One more time: autoformers? If you haven't already check out the Paul Speltz Zero page where he discusses the benefits of using autoformers between the amp and speakers. I used a set we built between my OTL and planars to increase the impedance of the speaker which allowed m...
Preamp - 18 dB Gain too low? I have the Lightspeed and use it with an amp that is not very sensitive, around 3V or so. You will have to go further around the dial to achieve adequate SPL levels but that really isn't a problem. If it were the opposite and you had very little f...
Redgum Audio I heard one of their integrated amps once and was very impressed. Great build quality as well.
Best integrated amp for 10K The Atma-Sphere M-60's can be upgraded with internal volume control. If you have a single source system this could be an option.
can I get your input on a inexpensive pre-amp Many have felt the Mapletree Audio preamp is a great bargain. Also, I would look at the Decware preamps or a used AES/Cary.
Anyone try Decware silver interconnects? Very pleased with my set. Priced very fairly IMO.
How do I smooth out violins? If you decide it's the speakers that are the problem I just might be tempted to take them off your hands. I would love to revisit the 1/2e's in my system.Personally though I do not think the speakers are the culprit.
In-the-Grove lp cleaner It was only one LP and I maybe played it about a minute before shutting down. Not to take any chances with the stylus I thoroughly cleaned it (Magic Eraser and a light sanding) and inspected it with my loupe and it is fine. It wasn't worth my time...
In-the-Grove lp cleaner I do use AIVS products and it wouldn't remove it.
In-the-Grove lp cleaner I detected it by accident. The LP was not tacky to the touch and the residue was not easily visible by just looking at the LP. When I played it I noticed much more noise than usual. So I looked at the LP under bright light and you could then see t...
In-the-Grove lp cleaner My complaint with this product is that it left a residue on the LP I tested it with. Tossed it out. |
