Passive Preamps w/ Transformer Volume Control Jfd01,Thanks, but not sure I like this. I have to wonder about the quality of the cable coming from the attenuator module, especially as compared to my other interconnects, which didn't come cheaply to me and which I enjoy quite a bit.
Passive Preamps w/ Transformer Volume Control Jfd01,Does this mean the new Bent will require a set of ICs from the switch box module to the attenuator module, and the another set from the attenuator module to the amp?
Wire Pink Flag 180 Gram Yep it's worth it.
Passive Preamps w/ Transformer Volume Control IMO, go with the TVC. Bent's new passive preamp will be using specially configured Intact Audio (Dave Slagle) autoformers. MFA/S&B cut John and other resellers off a while back. You can read the details by linking to the Audio Circle forum of ...
Micro Seiki MA707 vs CF-1 I'll have to look into the 202 myself. You may want to ping Raul on the forum. He has a MS 282 I believe which is supposed to be one fantastic arm. He knows quite a bit about the vintage tonearms.I have the wrench for the MA-505 somewhere. I don't...
Micro Seiki MA707 vs CF-1 You're correct about the composition of the MA-707 arm. Even without the VTA on the fly (which is problematic in that it requires the steadiest of hands to use, and I choose not to use it) the MA-505 is superior. It's an incredible tonearm and if ...
Micro Seiki MA707 vs CF-1 I hopefully can answer some of your questions. I bought a Micro Seiki DQ-30(?) TT because of the MA-707 tonearm that was mounted on it. Subsequently I acquired an MA-505 tonearm and no longer needed the MA-707 (which in the end could not easily be...
Scheu Cello I nearly purchased one but instead went with the Scheu Premier MkII with battery power supply. The Scheu tables are a great value IMO. Nice build quality and simplistic in nature. Of course to get the best out of these tables the arm and cartridge...
step up for mc Get the K&K step-up. I used one and for the price it is hard to beat. You can swap resistors very easily to custom load your cartridge. I sold mine only because I moved up to the K&K SE phono stage.
Cary Rocket 88 & n.e.w. P-3: Best tube combo? When I had the P-3 I used a stock 12BH7 as the 12AU7 tubes are the important ones sonically. For those I use Mullard CV4003 which are the military version of the 12AU7.I'm not sure if you are aware but Cary offers an upgrade to the P-3 which invol...
Have You Heard the Northstar CD Combo? Recently I've been using the Stealth M5000 on the transport and Stealth Dream Digital on the DAC. Previously I have also tried these combinations:1. Acoustic Revive Power Max II power cords on both units simultaneously.2. PAD Dominus on the DAC an...
Have You Heard the Northstar CD Combo? My understanding from the importer is that the upgraded cable North Star offers is $1200. I wasn't aware Anthony had one. I may have to look into that further.Steve - are you still doing North Star mods, but just not on the Extremo DAC?
Have You Heard the Northstar CD Combo? I am using Acoustic Dreams DeadBall Isolators under the DAC and in between the DAC and transport FIM bearing isolators. I have also used Herbies Isocups with the Gabon Ebony ball between the DAC and transport as well.I've gone back and forth on th...
Have You Heard the Northstar CD Combo? I have the 192 combo after having owned the transport for a while and using it with a Monarchy M24 dac. When I bought the 192 dac to go with the transport there was a subtle improvement, but things really got interesting when I started using the I...
Turntable around 2k For a suspended design a SOTA could be a nice option for you. I used to own a Nova Series V which would be out of your budget, but perhaps a Star or Sapphire could work for you. If you go to the SOTA site they have some deals on refurbished and de... |
