Manley Stingray Integrated amp. Do not underestimate what you have with your amp/preamp combo. The Pathos might be the better option of the two integrated amps you mentioned, but I don't think either will make you forget about the Rowland combo. Think VAC Avatar SE if your goal ...
tuner better than turntable ? thread. About 4 months ago I purchased a Kenwood KT-8300 tuner. I listen to KUNV in Las Vegas for the most part. I'm not saying the KT-8300 is the be all end all of tuners out there, but I'm very satisfied with what I'm hearing and as a result my CD play ...
most articulate speaker I own Audiokinesis Jazz Module speakers and have heard the Sound Lab ESL speakers (at Essential Audio in the Chicgo area). To me, the Jazz Module speakers are very articulate (and great at getting the timbre right) while offering a similar experie...
Speakers to hang on to for LIFE Audiokinesis Jazz Modules. I've been living with these for a little over a year now. I can't recall hearing a speaker that reproduces timbre the way these do, not even my beloved Spendor Classic series 1/2e could match the Jazz Modules in this are...
Correcting for high gain Krell KRC 2 You could try Endler or EVS attenuators. Plug them into the amp inputs and then you plug the RCA cables into the attenuator inputs. Provides more flexibility than Rothwell attenuators which are fixed, but cost more.
Is Michael Wolff still making power cord? I always wanted to try Mike's power cords but never had the chance. However, I can vouch for Tel Wire as well. They are the only detachable power cords I use in my system.
JRDG Capri & mod. 112 I used the internal phono card with my Capri and it is quite good. It doesn't have all the fancy adjustments an excellent external phono stage might have, but it provides top rate analog sound reproduction IMO. You are getting a lot of preamp for ...
Old B&O vs. new Rega P1 I found more detail was possible with my B&O 8000 by defeating the suspension system. My flooring in my condo is very stable so the suspension was not necessary to control vibrations.
cd player + preamp = too much gain The Lightspeed Attenuator is a great passive preamp, but before buying you need to ensure it will match up with your other components, especially the amp. Typically your amps input sensitivity should be around 1V. The input impedance should be aro...
USB DACs with 24/192 via USB Ferenc,Can you share any impressions on the Konnekt 8 vs. Hiface in terms of sound quality? I use a Mac and have been looking at both of these options, as well as the Music Streamer Pro. However, the Music Streamer only supports up to 24/96.
review 'db audio labs tranquility dac Steroephile, that's the best you've got to offer as proof USB is better than firewire. You should be able to offer better proof than that, Gordon Rankin and Steve Nugent do.Personally, I'm trying to make the jump to computer audio. I am intrigued ...
The Hub: ''Handcrafted Ralph Gleason'' ? I really wanted to buy the Ralph Gleason partly out of my respect for him as a music critic (he and Lester Bangs were my favorites) and partly because I felt the ad was "real" and spoke to me. Not to mention that I do think Lance might be on to so...
Nordost or Alpha Core? The Alpha Core is one of the best values in speaker cables IMO. Any concerns about oscillation can be remedied easily by having Alpha Core supply you with the Zobel networks. I believe they supply these for free upon request.
Promitheus and Wyred4Sound Wow 54db is a lot of gain. I am not familiar with the W4S designs, but I'd be curious what that the input sensitivity would be in that situation. I think your concern with regards to volume control position are valid from a flexibility perspective...
Slagle AVC Modules & Lightspeed Attenuator Well better late than never. I appreciate the comments and information. To update everyone I'm using both in my system simultaneously now. The Lightspeed handles the phono and Slagle the digital. At some point I may send the Slagle out to be rewir... |
