Promitheus and Wyred4Sound
I'd be a little concerned with the 2.95V input sensitivity of the SX-1000 when using it with a TVC or any passive for that matter.
Passive Preamp works with Dynavector p75?
It will probably work, but how well is the question. Input sensitivity of .8V is a good start, but the gain level has to be taken into consideration too. Also, input impedance on the amp is 10k ohms, not usually ideal for a passive preamp regardle...
Salk Archos speakers
I had the opportunity to listen to them in Jim's listening room. I have to say I was impressed. They are open and reproduce timbre very well. This in an atypical environment as Jim's room is in his basement and has no room treatments. We just move...
So many preamps, so little time
Would have to agree with Shakey. Passive preamps did in my SLP-98 and Joule Electra LA-100MkIII, as well as a couple others.I had the SLP-98 mated with my V12i and while there is definitely synergy, IMO it was too much of the Cary house sound for ...
Which preamp helps lower listening sessions?
TRL Dude. One of the traits of TRL designs is that lower listening levels produce excellent resolution without frequency loss. Another trait is the designs yield highly musical results. Nothing artificial or exaggerated.
Power Strip Question - PLEASE HELP
Here is an interesting link to someone knowledgeable about the extension cord tweak. Outside of building your own cord, you may want to look into this further:http://forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fr.pl?fcabl&1242899532&openflup&38&4#38
Power Strip Question - PLEASE HELP
1) If the non-audio electronics are plugged into a separate power strip, but are not operational (i.e. off), will they still cause interference and degrade the sound quality of my system?2) If I use an extension cord running from a different dupl...
So many preamps, so little time
For me, a good tube preamp that mated nicely with a Cary V12i amp is the Joule Electra LA-100 MkIII. Might be worth trug with your 805AE.Stick with single ended versus introducing a balanced preamp. While most balanced preamps have the option to u...
battery-based SS amps
Not sure batteries has anything to do with it. A well designed noise immune power supply can come in both battery and linear, and yes, even switching flavors. As for tube like sound well that's a different discussion altogether. To me it's in the o...
Phono stage for tube system - recommendations?
Get the K&K, you won't regret it.
SC's and IC's for Dynaudio C1 and JR Continuum 500
If you are looking for a warmer sound then OCOS or Supra would not be the choice IMO.Cardas good be a good choice depending on the model. I would also consider the Fusion cables as you mentioned. Eric is great to deal with and they do impart a war...
Has anyone heard the new OPPO BDP-83SE
I was considering buying the SE version and sending it to TRL for mods. However, Tbg's post may sway me to go the lower cost route due to the fact that it will be modded anyway. I respect John Tucker of Examplar and when modding such equipment the ...
My passive preamp project – DIY vs Deep pocket
The LDRs are very good as well. I own one designed by George Stantschleff (Lightspeed Attenuator, go to DIY Audio thread). From a DIY perspective a bit more difficult due to proper matching of the LDR modules. However, if done right they will give...
SC's and IC's for Dynaudio C1 and JR Continuum 500
For SCs why not try OCOS cables. They are made for (and I believe by) Dynaudio.I don't have Dynaudio speakers, but I use the OCOS speaker cables and they are very neutral. I use a 5.5m run.On another note the Supra Cables are very good as well. Th...
Need MM phono stage under $300
I have a B&O 8002 table and use the Vista Audio Phono-1 phono stage. It's $299 and sounds fabulous.
