DO CABLES REALLY MATTER?
cd318@cleeds , well there’s plenty of stuff out there regarding cable comparisons ...Of course there is. This is a perennial issue. I've done my own evaluations, and am mostly interested in hearing from those who have conducted their own, first-...
Skeptic or just plain hard headed
stevechamThat’s impossible. Most cables, except for monofilament, are made from numerous strands. My sense is that ...So you're declaring something is "impossible" based on your "sense" or a feeling? I'm more inclined to accept someone's first-ha...
DO CABLES REALLY MATTER?
cd318 Monster1000 speaker cables vs 4 twisted soldered coat hangers. To date the coat hangers have remained unbeaten against all comers from the cable world. It appears this link just repeats information repeated from another website that repea...
Why Power Cables Affect Sound
rocknssWhy not remove the in wall receptacle and hard wire to the Romex? That wouldn't likely meet NEC or local electrical code.
Why Power Cables Affect Sound
mkgus One of my concerns with “on the spot” listening tests is that I need time to learn a specific system’s sound first. I can pick up on very subtle changes with my system because I am very acquainted with it. If I go to someone else’s house, I...
Why Power Cables Affect Sound
tobor007I really did not mean their would be a loser. Just fun and perhaps some learning tied in with a good show. Please count me in as a potential subject for a blind listening test. However, if you think it's going to be fun, you'll almost cer...
Why Power Cables Affect Sound
tobor007Why not get 10 sample audiophiles who have a history of posting here and have a listening study. Location could be at an agreed on audio show ... Blind test ... The losers get a audiophile t-shirt ...I’ve suggested this several times, and...
Why Power Cables Affect Sound
prof I had a friend help me blind test it against a cheap stock power cord. In which case, all the sonic characteristics I felt so sure I'd heard disappeared and I couldn't for the life of me distinguish the sound from the cheap power cord.T...
Why Power Cables Affect Sound
tobor007 "A 2014 study published in Science Translational Medicine (Harvard medical school) explored placebo effect by testing how people reacted to migraine pain medication. The researchers discovered that the placebo was 50% as effective...
Does a ripped cd onto a digital format sound better than the cd played on the cdp
melm in the wires they are analog signals intended to look like square waves. You may call that a digital signal if you like but they are subject to all the problems of transmitting analog signals. They are digital signals. Because of that, yo...
Does a ripped cd onto a digital format sound better than the cd played on the cdp
melmYes, that's exactly it. It's counter intuitiveThat a digital signal can be corrupted, and a 1 read as a 0, does not mean that the digital signal is analog. Not even close.
A very good ENGINEERING explanation of why analog can not be as good as digital..
teo_audio If one wants to equal the inter channel timing of transients and phase coherence that an LP is capable of, the minimum is an appoximate 7 million sample per second rate, at about a minimum of 20 bits of depth and with absolutely z...

elizabethThe 15ips thing caught my eye... On a tape machine.. with it running at 15ips.. Well each magnetized particle of material on the tape could be thought of as a ON/OFF digital particle. So one could calculate the number of magnetized indivi...
A very good ENGINEERING explanation of why analog can not be as good as digital..
teo_audioIt is said that to equal an LP, a digital system would have to sample at minimum of 7 million samples a second, and with ~zero jitter~ in that spec to be met. Other than you, who has made this claim? You're suggesting that an LP can ...
A very good ENGINEERING explanation of why analog can not be as good as digital..
stevechamThe sampling rate of lacquer/metal/vinyl is the number of polymer molecules flying past the stylus at the outer edge, ~15 ips, to ~ 8 ips at the inner part of the groove. That number is astronomical and blows away any conceivable, let al...
