stereo5Steve Gutenberg knows more about high end audio than most of us. Your comments about him have no place here ...I kinda like Steve, but he's no sacred cow. He should be as subject to criticism here as any of the professional reviewers.

reubent I have 2 vintage Infinity Speakers that use EMITs - Infinity Qb and RS1.5. I do not find the EMITs "steely" in either implementation. I don't find EMITs to be even remotely "steely." They are revealing, however, and can sound strident ...

I'm still using my McIntosh MR-80 and it still sounds terrific, given a clean signal. 
Maybe being discerning isn't that good for us?
