Did Audiogon get sold to the Chinese or Russian Govt?
Whatever happened to free speech? We live in the most censored ear ever.  Might as well be in *ussia or *hina.
speaker connector broke
The problem started with the mandating of weak plastic shielding for alleged safety benefits. Hands up anyone who has taken a nasty jolt from a speaker terminal? More useless, wasteful, costly health and safety mollycoddling.
Better sound on rainy days?
As posted, completely explicable over FM by atmospheric conditions. Not explicable for other local media generated programme.  If you hear improvement then I suggest you install a shower in your listening room. The rest of us can just enjoy the ...
Volume matched inputs on a preamp?
Audio Research Ref 6 allows you to set and retain volume on the remote for each input.  A facility I paid for but do not use. Like most of us, I like to put the music on and adjust the volume to suit the programme, my mood, the time of daya, other...
Phono Stage upgrade to complement Dohmann Helix One Mk 2
@kennyc  I wondered how long it would be before someone mentioned the vdH Grails.  They seem to be grossly under-rated here and almost never mentioned. A couple of years ago I auditioned the more complex SE against Nagra, Boulder 1008 and AR Ref...
What defines mid-fi versus high-end?
@webking185     Americans do. Not everything good is American.  Not everything American is good.
Why Do You Post?
@audioguy85      No ducks here but plenty of quackery. I post mainly to expose silly notions for being just that.
What defines mid-fi versus high-end?
Your own belief about what you have.  There is no universal definition. One man's mid-fi is another's hi-end.  And vice-versa.
Inexpensive Good Vintage Turntables?
@pindac  "Aviation and Performance Vehicles are using Wood Products produced using very accurate and reliable methods for their construction, these wood products can be machined to have the tightest of tolerances, no different to a metal and will...
Higher amperage fuse for sound quality
@jetter    Sorry.  You're completely wrong.  All the amateur non-engineers here know far more about amplifier design than all the amplifier designers. Not.
Inexpensive Good Vintage Turntables?
Yep.  Vintage turntables are often better than today's over-designed, over-weight blingy monsters employing all the wrong materials like wood and carbonfibre just to be vogue. Whatever happened to honest engineering?  I would far sooner have that...
I don't want to beat a dead horse but I'm bugged.
@russ69   Yup.  I find it incredible how many people here don't listen before laying down their bread.  But these days many people order a car without driving it.  However modern cars are mostly all the same.  Unlike hi-fi components.
everything sounded great until the upgrade
@grislybutter    Why didn't you try the amp in your system before laying down your bread? It's incredible how many people here buy upgrades without listening to them.  It's little use listening at the dealer in his system unless he can replicate ...
Difusers on the speakers?
@williewonka   Surely if a speaker requires diffusers attached, the manufacturer would fit them?  And design them?  And carry out listening tests? There are speakers with convex front baffle that are said to reduce unwanted reflections. Suggest ...
Higher amperage fuse for sound quality
The fuse is there to protect your equipment and its amperage is determined by the manufacturer from his knowledge of the equipment. Don't mess with it. There are some people here who in the past have advocated replacing the fuse with a solid met...
