Investigating if ultrasound is harming LPs
@cleeds     I think more Captain Subjective.  The 'science' of listening will always be flawed.  Listening is always subjective and the results never scientific unless conducted under scientific conditions.  OP is to be praised for trying to build...
One of the great things about Vinyl
Hey @hifiguy42 it's gonna be your ears tricking you, not vice versa. And @henry53 are you eating dinner off your LPs??  No problem, but you've got to give them a couple of runs in the ultrasound after.

The eternal circle.  That will never be squared. I am bored reading all these polarised opinions.  They're not worth a small hill of beans, except to their writers. We should end this.

At last an attempt at science on AG.  Congratulations. But most AGers would prefer to clean the LP, listen to it and see if they can tell any difference.  You can read them above: 'if it's not detected by a listening test then there's no damage'....
Female vocalist recommendations
@elliottbnewcombjr  Thank you.  Joan Baez tucked away amongst 49 odd others. Early Joan had the most pure untrained high soprano voice there ever was.  It rings like a bell.  If you want beauty in a voice, look no further than her very first Van...
Psychologist dissects Pink Floyd's 'Dark Side of the Moon'
@barts  Yeah.  I have the MoFi pressing for G**s sake.  Paid $50 years ago and now costing 10x that. I listen to it nowanagain.  Overblown.  Do I enjoy it??  Not like a whole load of much better stuff. They ain't the Beatles.  Nowhere near.

@bigtwin  Care.  I didn't say the Floyd are the worst band in the world.  I said they are the most over-rated. Agreed.  RUSH are far far poorer then the Floyd.  And quite rightly far less highly rated.  We are talking about the quality gulf betw...

Pink Floyd. The most over-rated band.  EVER.  BAR NONE.
Why Are We Breaking Our Brains?
@thyname  I make my purchasing decisions the same way as everyone else, not only by listening/tasting but by recommendation, research, review etc. But to repeat - all I'm saying is we're all kidding ourselves if we think listening/tasting are en...
Why Are We Breaking Our Brains?
@brianh61     Your wine shop is only trying to be helpful of course by recommending a 'similar' bottle. Many will agree with me that as a very delicate grape Pinot Noir can present very variably.  As a Burgundy drinker of many bottles experience,...
Why Are We Breaking Our Brains?
@thyname    Thank you for your response.  I will take your comment on my username as a compliment.  I did choose it carefully. I certainly did NOT say that in my camp everything always sounds the same.  This is not black and white.  It is not a c...
Why Are We Breaking Our Brains?
Regrettably @waytoomuchstuff has misdirected himself.  He suggests that because confirmation bias is not present in wine tasting, it cannot be present in listening to music.  His statement is an inductive proof - that is, the proof of a propositio...

How hot is hot when moving from class a/b to to a or tubes?
@jasonbourne52  You are quite right about TRUE Class A. It does run hottest on no/low signals. Some here have mentioned modern Krells, by which I mean post around 1990.  These do not run particularly hot on no/low signals.  How can this be?  it ...
Opinion: Modern country is the worst musical genre of all time
@tylermunns  Thank you for the prompt response and the apology.  Accepted. We all of us make mistakes from time to time.  I have certainly done it myself.  Once we click that doomed button, our contribution is indelible.  We feel awful.
