Don't get it, why anyone would ask others "what sounds best"? I'm sure "we" people have our ears on; it's just getting those ears to hear every possible option as the practical limitation. I'd love to home audition a pair of Magicos - but if I can't, I'll ask the opinions of people who have. The key is alw...
Too much Yo-Yo Ma? Hold on - Jordi Savall. Just listened to a couple of online tracks. I'm now on the hunt for his works; thanks for the recommendation!
Too much Yo-Yo Ma? I third Jaqueline, followed by Fournier, Starker, and Rostropovich. Would add Casals and his classic recordings. As for Ma, I do like the emotion and intonation he adds to his playing; I keep coming back to his Bach solo #2 1983 recording on CD. ...
Tinnitus sufferer: is it the speakers or the 24bits/192kHz I've had mild tinnitus since birth, but fortunate enough that it really hasn't bothered me in the fifty years I've had it. I have similar experience as keithr in that metal tweets really bothered me in my 20s - before I really knew what was going...
Tube Preamp with Solid State Amp? As you have Klipsch, I'd recommend keep your P5 and try swapping out your A21 with a tube amp. I tried tube pre/ss amp a long time ago (Audible Illusions+Exposure) and really liked it, but practical considerations in integrating HT with my stereo...
Abominations: HT processor to tube amps? I run my HT thru a NAD M15 HD into Rogue M-150 monos. It’s absolutely outstanding. I’ve got an Adcom 6 channel amp running bridged center and surrounds (leaving the other two to pick up Atmos once I upgrade the NAD). My two-channel listening goes...
Which? Muse model 100 amp or Acurus DIA100 integrated? I would opt for the DIA100 due to its control in the lower registers (it's a bit grainy on top). But as Zd542 says - it all comes down to your preferences.
System upgrade advice I doubt you will outclass those electronics with those 804's, but I would audition them first. If you can find a dealer to loan them to you, that would be best.I like the Paradigm Studio series, but can see where some can find the tweeters subject...
amps, pre amps HELP Hi Corin,1. Depends. Convenience in integrated amp, whereas pre and amp buys you into the fun, yet scary world of "upgraditis".2. The JD 9 is a phono stage - are you already running a pre/int? Whenever I hear vinyl in a system, you should look at ...
Borodin String Qtt 2 Ptss - received the disc several days ago, but hadn't the chance to really sit down and enjoy the recording over a cup of coffee (work schedule).I did take it for a casual spin, and can comment briefly on the recording quality - it is surprisingly...
No audio playing SACD"s When playing SACD's, some spinners disable the digital output. Hook up a pair of analog cables and see if you get sound there when you play an SACD.
Borodin String Qtt 2 Ptss: got a copy of the EMI recording you mention on silver disc headed my way. I'll give it a whirl and let you know what I think to continue this discourse.
Borodin String Qtt 2 I only have one disc of Borodin, his Symphonies 1 & 2. Honestly, I'm with Brownsfan - Borodin is somewhat obscure, and definitely isn't a name I would search for actively with regards to chamber music.I will, however, look for your subject dis...
old carver tmf-25 vs new NAD D 3020 I had a TFM-35x many, many years back. Coupled to a Carver Pro-Logic Pre/Pro (forgot the model #), the sound was incoherent, which I later pinned to the pre/pro when I replaced it with a McCormack TLC-1. The TFM-35x turned out to be pretty good (l... |
