hearing loss and speaker selection
@scott22 , I’ve had mild high frequency rolloff and tinnitus since birth. As I’ve gotten older, the rolloff has gotten a little worse, but still not bad enough where I can listen to my system without my hearing aids. Much to the chagrin of my fam...
Do speaker wires have to be the same length for each speaker?
That's the UFC bout portion of this discussion, @limomangus . Yes, you can have a pair of speaker cables of different lengths to a stereo set.  Technically, the % difference in electrical parameters of two different lengths of speaker cable is ve...

@yyzsantabarbara  Thanks!  I would so love to take a listen to that Accuphase, but the explosion fallout I'll experience when I bring it home, haha - let's just say I really don't like sleeping on the couch. 😁 @imaninatural  I'd hate to keep...
Do speaker wires have to be the same length for each speaker?
Hey Christian:  Hi they are not the same length because one speaker is +/- 10 further from the equip. The stereo is in the corner of the room due to fireplace location, sliding doors, etc... Also the wire to that far speaker goes under the house ...
Classical Music for Aficionados
IMO one of the greatest chamber pieces of the last century both in life and death. What a discovery for me, and thank you. I have one album from Messiaen that I never could approach since it was contemporary (I'm more a fan of classical(-baroq...
Do speaker wires have to be the same length for each speaker?
This is almost as entertaining as a closely matched UFC bout. I prefer same length, but I need to ask the OP: "Why NOT the same length?" If you're running in-wall, got it.  But if not in-wall, you've got plenty of space in your listening room if...
FM Tuners
You may be able to get a decent amount of stations with a $2.00 dipole. Rooftop is mandatory for optimum performance. Likewise, completely!  I couldn't get the better half to agree on mounting a rooftop on our new construction, so I had to comp...
Your Favorite Christmas Song-One only Please-
Jumping on that bandwagon - so I've given my one choice, but taking a bonus action to endorse: "All Pentatonix CHRISTmas songs are awesome." Total +1 to this!

Another plug for Magnum Dynalab analog tuners, which can be had for <$400 used (FT101/Etude, etc.).  Never was able to own one (they cost some good $$$ when new), so I settled for a couple of digital bits (Yamaha and an Adcom) - but sold them m...
Favorite cable brand.
I admit, I can't discern very well any audible differences between cables, but I do have some "favorites" I've picked up along the way.  I'm moreso drawn to them due to the materials and construction.Kimber - the braid structure did me in when I n...
Is it safe to use a higher amperage rating fuse?
@pauly no issues otherwise(knock knock). This was simply a tweak/experiment. The stock 5A fuse works as expected. Ah... I love happy endings! :-)
Accuphase: Power Distributor vs. Power Conditioner
No experience with either unit (though that Accuphase looks sexy as hell *thumbs up* for a conditioner - but I've been partial to the Accuphase/Luxman look), but it appears the Shunyata does some conditioning on it's own.  You're essentially going...
Don't get it, why anyone would ask others "what sounds best"?
It all sounds pointless. I think I will quit. Likewise - off to a more entertaining thread. :-)
Don't get it, why anyone would ask others "what sounds best"?
I'm sure "we" people have our ears on; it's just getting those ears to hear every possible option as the practical limitation.  I'd love to home audition a pair of Magicos - but if I can't, I'll ask the opinions of people who have. The key is alw...
