New equipment
@sns  I'm sure you guys realize one get both tone and texture along with greater resolving capabilities these days. Some amazing equipment out there, and getting better over time. You can have your cake and eat it to. True, but I agree with @o...
New equipment
@oddiofyl    I will trade a little detail for a lot of texture and tone any day.  Agreed! My mindset and approach for a very long time. Charles
Musetec (LKS) MH-DA005 DAC
@klh007 He was quite happy with the Bricasti (Which had replaced his previous Aesthetix Pandora DAC). I thought that the M1SE was very good. He replaced it with the MSB Select DAC. As far as I know he had no reliability or customer service issue...
Musetec (LKS) MH-DA005 DAC
@jjss49  at the same time, i also got a bricasti m1se in as well, and if you know that unit, there is a bewildering # of filters to choose from... so that is taking a good bit of time to sort through for which i prefer... ugh, too much choice is...

Small Form-Factor CD Player/Transport
Well I can vouch that Pro-Ject is committed to the “box” small/compact form factor. I haven’t heard any of their front loading CD components but they have very good word of mouth reputation. I own  their top loading CD transport (RS2T) and it’s ge...
Analog vs. digital

Analog vs. digital
@itsjustme I suggest hearing digital from a great, old analog recording, well mastered (interestingly, most will be red book, not HD) such as the old verve, blue note or Mercury stuff. I have to say you nailed it with this observation. This ha...
Price Isn't Always Indicitive of Quality or Performance
@soix Beautifully and maturely said. Come on gentlemen, let’s resist the insults and keep this thread off the too frequent (These days) thread deletion pathway. Charles
Price Isn't Always Indicitive of Quality or Performance
@lalitk  Thank you for your suggestion. I will look further. Charles
Price Isn't Always Indicitive of Quality or Performance
@soix Painting with the proverbial “broad brush” happens fairly regularly in discussions concerning High End audio. For example, “all tube amplifiers sound pretty much the same”.  Well, Audio Note, Audio Research, VAC and LAMM are tubed. Yet eac...
Price Isn't Always Indicitive of Quality or Performance
Just goes to show how listeners, audio systems and products vary. High quality silver cables in my experience are very open, transparent and yet very natural and consistently engaging. My Ocellia silver cables are the most organic and fluid cables...
Price Isn't Always Indicitive of Quality or Performance
@guakus  Thanks for posting. I'm unaware of this company but did visit their online site after reading your comments. I'm a strong proponent of high quality, well-made silver cables and these appear to meet those criteria. I have been interested ...
