Downsizing my system from tubes to an integrated I've owned several Arcam pieces, but neither the A19 or A28, Arcam does have a house sound. These will not have the rumble of the Hafler. They will be sweeter. MAC definitely has a house sound, so I don't know where you are with that.http://www.wh...
Strange thing happens when I bias my amp Basic guesses are usually the best guesses and that is: your multimeter settings are wrongyou are grounding improperlysome connection sequence is incorrectRegardless, contact Cary for further instructions.
Anyone still use iPod for music storage anymore? iPod classic loaded with Apple lossless files, set in an Arcam docking station with a Micromega MyDAC is a surprisingly good source. I eshewed iPODs and the like for years as they sounded so digital and lifeless. They've come around.
My Music Hall CD 25 just died Used Rega Apollo R, the shoebox one. Very overlooked piece. Very good player, astonishingly good transport. The Mac Mini is a good suggestion, however..... you will then need pieces to run it properly. Ipad or something to run it like a wireless ke...
bookshelf speakers No budget, no ancillary equipment, no musical styles given....... Some very general rules for bookshelf speakers actually placed iin a bookshelf:sealed cabinets are good, no ports to deal withif the speaker is ported then of course they must be fr...
Repair or replace my Linear tracking of that vintage had a nasty habit of wagging back and forth which actually destroyed the groove walls of the record. Studer Revox used a completely different system of linear tracking which did not wag and cause this irrepairable e...
Cheap and chearful integrated for Epos ES14 The Audio Refinement is a great recommendation, however..... I think these deserve better and a vintage Luxman integrated would voice better. An L-450 or better would make these sing. They like the solid and full bass control of the Luxman.
Atlas Mavros 75 ohm digital This helps. Any particular reason for the 1.5m? Thanks.
Rack for System and CD player recommendations Interesting. The front end, Cambridge CD30, is completely disproportionate to the balance of the system. I mean really, K-Mart tires on the Porche. A Rega Apollo-R coupled with a Micromega MyDac would place this all in serious territory. The rack, ...
Change from full range electrostat speakers advice Merlin TSM monitors. These speak to the totality of your summation. Very well detailed, lacking the pinpoint sweet spot that belabors many electrostatics and yet quickness that challenges that of the well designed panel. They will work well with w...
Class A Watts I own a Sugden A21SE and at only 30 wpc Class A it does not play louder than other well designed 30 wpc gear, but it is definitely quicker and approaches that oft elusive tube sound. The characteristics of speed, solid bass response and openness o...
New rack or power conditioner Quadraspire Sunoko vent. I've never experienced such a dramatic improvement from a single ancillary change in 40 years of this sometimes ridiculous hobby. Corrected most of my perceived room acoustics problems. Simply stunning. System on the rack ...
Music Server now bane of my existence Thank you for the responses. Ciao
New Rega Apollo-R This is a very solid performer and a fantastic transport. I'm running mine with a Decware DAC, Manley electronics and Penaudio Cenya monitors. As a transport, a giant killer.
Sugden amp to pair Harbeth SHL5? Not too thick? I run the Sugden A21SE and it will not thicken the sound. Of oourse I cannot speak about your DIY tube amps. One would presume the Sugden would be much quicker with extended high end. But then I also run Manley tube amps and they are very quick in... |
