Is there a Rosetta Stone for digital speak? Thank you for all of the excellent suggestions.
Speaker for nearfield listening? Second the Harbeth P3ESR. Not such a fan in the past but they have upped their game and are far more dynamic and resolve better. No longer that laid back British sound.
Now I See Pearson's experiences reflect those of many who try to stay above the pedestrian fray of the money chasers. I am a Capitalist, just not with all caps. I was there at the genesis of the mountain bike rage and watched it become infected by the hoard...
Are Rodgers ls3/5a as good as advertise? & Why Value to you or to the open market? This is a very special speaker when paired with the correct electronics. By that I mean a whole lot of stable current. Pillocks have tried running these with 100wpc Pioneer receivers which become mired in sloppy...
How do vibrations affect the equipment? Vibration control is a dark art. I've always used what I thought were decent Target equipment stands, solid brass cones and various vibration control devices placed under equipment. We all know them. Then I started using a Sunoko Vent stand and re...
Bored with my B&W Zepplin Air Tired of listening to plastic radios? Shocking!! Dragonfly or Audioengine D3, Focal XS Book would be miles ahead of the current set-up.
Miles Davis The Original Mono CD's I, like many have multiple versions of this. My go to version is the K2 HD CD so far. Rich, very acoustic and detailed as much as that original tape can be.
B&K preamps Pro 5, CS 117 verses Hafler DH 110 I've limited info. Owned the Pro 5 and it was nice sounding, however not the last word in detail or soundstage. Would give the nod to the Hafler for that. However, the B&K Pro 10 or Sonata (I believe with separate power supply) was quite good....
studio/nearfield/bookshelve monitor or speaker Used Merlin TSM monitor old enough to meet your price range. Why? Because it is not vented and will not produce nearly to much loading off of the wall when you place it near or against. Also, they are just that good and will easily be driven by th...
Power Amp recommendations Agree with a lot of what Vhiner says. Having said that, you are not marrying any of these and half the fun is owning and experimenting. For a SS amplifier you might consider the Rega Mira. Very solid performer and should easily beat the Rotel for ...
Entry Level Tube Integrated Decware is a much better sounding unit and will drive the Focals......not to deafening levels. Steve Deckert is a magician.
Downsizing my system from tubes to an integrated I've owned several Arcam pieces, but neither the A19 or A28, Arcam does have a house sound. These will not have the rumble of the Hafler. They will be sweeter. MAC definitely has a house sound, so I don't know where you are with that.http://www.wh...
Strange thing happens when I bias my amp Basic guesses are usually the best guesses and that is: your multimeter settings are wrongyou are grounding improperlysome connection sequence is incorrectRegardless, contact Cary for further instructions.
Anyone still use iPod for music storage anymore? iPod classic loaded with Apple lossless files, set in an Arcam docking station with a Micromega MyDAC is a surprisingly good source. I eshewed iPODs and the like for years as they sounded so digital and lifeless. They've come around.
My Music Hall CD 25 just died Used Rega Apollo R, the shoebox one. Very overlooked piece. Very good player, astonishingly good transport. The Mac Mini is a good suggestion, however..... you will then need pieces to run it properly. Ipad or something to run it like a wireless ke... |
