Which speakers excel at low volume? Pick a speaker that CAN"T play loud. Speakers that play loud are a compromise when all you need is quite listening levels.I agree about x-overless designs. Try Epos M12/M15; single driver Fostex, Jordan or paper driver speakers like the old Virgo ...
Which Hi-end monitor for near field listening Genelec active 8030's are $1,100/pr go into the 30's. Huge, dynamic, tight bass for such little speakers - in line with Dynaudio BM-7's ($1,650.00). We like the Genelec's better. Active so amps are built into speakers. Just need CDP with volume.Be...
SS amp mosfet 'haze' - ever experienced this? Musical Fidelity bi-polars are much clearer than Creek Mosfet.
Eco-friendly Bamboo ply speakers Shoe, Wal-mart sells them. Much nicer than the regular wood. Bamboo is thinner and harder. I'm so impressed with mbamboo cutting board, I may get bamboo hardwood floors put down. Who knows, maybe reside my house with bamboo too :-).
Eco-friendly Bamboo ply speakers Hi Creeper, thanks for the interest. No JTM clone. Because I only listen at 70dB, a single driver speaker is practical for the way I listen. Furthermore because they beam above 3-4kHz, I don't have problems anymore with boosts in HF from wide disp...

Help: good value amp for Epos M12.2s? You could try Marantz. From what I understand their older CD-63 was a bit bright, the newer stuff being better. I think NAD was known for its amps and Marantz for its CDP. Maybe you could get a used Stereophile "A" rated Marantz SA-8260 ($1099 new).
Eco-friendly Bamboo ply speakers Hi Pete,I thought Jalanc was talking about bamboo drivers, not cabinets. Tang-Band is coming out with a bamboo driver sold by P-E.
Best isolation device Bob_bundus, how do glass doors affect resonant glare?MANA uses glass shelves to great effect. I would recommend thick (at least 1/4") tempered glass. Like anything in audio, try it, you might like it.
Do you think you need a subwoofer? "The first time you can hear the subwoofers right blended on your stereo home audio system: YOU NEVER COULD LIVE WITH OUT THEM AGAIN, ANY ONE CAN, period"Nope. I can live very happily without subs and their associated costs and problems. Fortunate...
Help: good value amp for Epos M12.2s? Don't waste your money on Cambridge. Get the Creek A50i. Maybe a little more distortion and not quite as clear as the 5350 and also bass a little less clean but the differences are small.
Lowdown on Sonic Impact Class T amp Rlwainwright, who sells it for $19? |
