Drill holes in rack shelf to keep amp cool?
I replaced my solid wood back panel with an open plastic mesh screen. Even "cool running" stuff builds up heat in the summer.
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Mapman, I DID like the soundstaging of the Duevel's. I was referring the the quality of the drivers, not the spatial effects.Thinking out loud:Single driver: I would describe the soundstaging as transporting you to the event. When in the sweet spo...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Bondmanp, not the Ohms, but I've heard Duevel's. I just remember the actual sound quality, IMHO, to be inferior to regular speakers like Epos, etc. It's been a while, but while the dimensionality was vague, it was far more natural and realistic th...

Are they still in business? Their phone number is a fax machine and no response from e-mails.
DAC Magic or MF V-DAC?
How about Audio Sector's non-oversampling DAC? The kit is $330 for SPDIF. Less for USB. Assembled is $80.00 more. Not shown on Peter's site but still available. It is very similar to ~$1,300 Altmann Attraction DAC but ~1/4 the cost.Which is better?...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
And some contrary views by Ted Jordan"It would seem at first logical to design loudspeaker systems to have the widest possible angle of distribution, in fact the omni-directional design would seem ideal - actually this is quite untrue. It is now g...
How tall are your speaker stands
Thanks for the input. It looks like I need at least 30" which I question the stability as I never see commercial stands this tall. So it looks like either 24" stands on stands or DIY.

How do you judge your system's neutrality?
Good link Shadorne, thanks.
How do you judge your system's neutrality?
When you limit a driver in the frequency domain, you also limit it in the time domain. I've heard it often, especially in bass drivers. When the bass driver is cut off over "X" frequency vs. running full range, bass becomes slow and lacks punch, t...
How do you judge your system's neutrality?
Not all ATC's are neutral. The SCM 11 is described by John Marks as having a "smiley face" F-R. Although the 2nd order x-over could have be one reason they sound good.Narrow dispersion such as Snell with +/-15 degree dispersion could reduce room e...
How do you judge your system's neutrality?
I've been doing critical listening lately from 12-24" away. You can hear a lot more hash and detail from the driver than the normal 6-10 feet. Cuts out room interactions too.I don't know why but listening farther away smooths out the sound and als...
the smoothest sounding speaker
How about Ohm Walsh micro talls or Eggleston?
