Single driver speakers - opinions
I get confused with S-D phase angles but even S-D apparently change phase. Here is one Jordan JX-92 so I don't know if they are as good as they claim. What effect does this have on the sound/ Maybe Atmasphere will know. Also people have noted that a ...

You have to live with single driver for a while. Then listen to multi-way to appreciate the degradation in sound. Also I am not getting any H-F boost. That is more a characteristic of high efficiency single driver.A small room is helpful to boost t...
Single driver speakers - opinions
You would laugh if I told you what I use and would never even bother trying it if I did.For me, the most practical "single driver" design is a standard cabinet and full range from 40hz-5-8,000hz with a supertweeter above that. Better than adding t...
Cheap Tweeks
I would recommend these:cheap tweaks(Although these may not be the same as cheap tweeks)
the process is more challenging than the result
Being competitive, and trying to outdo yourself or other people is a trap. Clever advertising and peer pressure fuels it.It's a fun hobby to play around with different sounds but when it leads to $10,000 per I/C, that's taking it too far IMHO.You ...

Best next step to upgrade sound?
Blindjim, I'd say that's all worth at least a nickel.
How loud can I 'safely' play my Dynaudio Focus 140
Mr. Shadorne should love this. Active pro monitors are spec'd for loudness, unlike your garden variety audiophile stuff.Dynaudio BM-5 = 116 dB peakShould be able to play at 100-105dB all day long.GO ACTIVE!!
Will new Class D trump a vintage Class A/AB?
No, unless you only listen to frequencies under 80hz.
Tone controls- to use or not?
Shazam "and what things will agitate you or cause more damage. ".Interesting question. If someone has a 3dB loss at 5-7,000hz will boosting that range cause additional damage OR annoyance?I would think that would be a matter of absolute volume leve...
How would you run an audio salon?
I would open up a store (like maybe a soundproofed store in a shopping mall) where I could sell a speaker that could play really, really loud with reasonable sound quality. Add in dual sub's for customers who need even more bass.Play it loud, play...
What makes up an
I always thought of it as hi-resolution. Problem is when hi resolution gets in the way of the music. Then is it still hi-end?Also a matter of opinion and comparisons. What were hi-end speakers in the 60's would be mid-fi at best today.
