What Rags carry the most review weight???
I really like What HiFi. Their hearing must be like mine because their descriptions match what I hear in stores. Unlike Stereophile which leaves me confused and feeling like I need to spend more money. For example, the latest buzz on M-F upsamplin...
Has anyone seen the new Meadowlark Swift?
Heard very briefly. Very good sound. I think with tube amps. Definitely "high end" sound quality. I would think Kestrels would give better dynamics and bass since it is bigger. Other than that Swifts might even be better.I didn't get to really giv...
What's driving your 805's
Adcom GFP-750/ Musical Fidelity A3cr. If I did it again, Krell drove them better but that is my preference. I've wanted to like Thiel but my ears can't take the . B&W / Krell was the closest I could get.
Press release Musical Fidelity 308
Only trying to be helpful. There has been interest in new Musical Fidelity amps. I can't get any info from England on the A3.2cr and this was the closest I could find.

High Sensitvity = good transient response ?
Those were Mike Sander's (Quicksilver Audio Mini Monos)) quotes, not Sam Telligs'. Mike also said:"The push-pull had more top end extension, more bass extension, and sounded more solid and controlled. But the single ended had a fastness and a clar...
Audio Physic Virgo III
I demoed at two dealers and had very different results. Both had Musical Fidelity amps. First dealer used Musical Fidelity A3 CDP in a sonically treated room. III's sounded very good. Clear, dynamic sound. Pretty good kick on drums. Did not do the...
Amp play a low volumes?
Speakers with less distortion will sound quiter even if they are actually playing at higher volume levels. ATC active speakers for example. Without the "noise" of distortion things sound quieter.
High Sensitvity = good transient response ?
Learn something new everyday. And I thought that the covering on Brentworth's opening was the driver. I have only heard 2 SET as dealers don't carry this stuff. Sam Tellig talked with Mike Sanders re Quicksilver Mini Monos / March 2001. Page 36 I ...
High Sensitvity = good transient response ?
Twl, on SET sound. I've been told they have high amounts of distortion so maybe what I've been told affects my hearing perceptions. Take "Spanish Harlem". The first time I heard on Triangle Celius and Unison SET Rebecca Pidgeon's voice sounded vag...
High Sensitvity = good transient response ?
Hi twl. I heard the $7,500 Type Three-A:http://www.cadencebuilding.com/cadence/bslpix.htmlThe owner had the best Waytec SET amps and they are supposedly made especially for the Brentworths. I think they were over $8,000.The room was very big - 18 ...
Best receiver for sonus f. Grand Piano under 3000
Magnum Dynalab has a $3,000 receiver Stereophile "A" rated. That's all I know about it.
Cheap tweaks...What would YOU reccomend?
For cleaning CD's go to an eyeglass store and ask for their cleaning cloth used on plastic lenses. Runs from $1.00 to $6.00. It is a microfiber material and can be washed and used over and over. There may be another version which has a wax or clean...
High Sensitvity = good transient response ?
Twl, about the 40 Hz rating. I've heard Brentworth single driver with Waytec SET (20 Hz rated) and the bass was disappointing.Am I missing something because, take B&W Nautilus 804's for example, are rated at about 40 Hz but they seem to have mo...
BMG CD's ARE worse
Thanks for the information. I will be comparing BMG CD's to the same "non BMG" CD's in the future for a fairer comparison. If I find quality differences again, I'll repost.
