DIY speaker: braid vs twist vs straight
Dekay, the magnet wire I found has a clear enamel coating. So you're saying I don't need ANY tubing to protection it?* Would this wire configuration have any funky inductance or capacitance like the Goertz stuff? Probably not, but I want to make s...
Adcom GFP-750 pre with Bryston 4BST amp works?
Ivanj, what mods to the GFP-750 do you suggest? ThanksThe Adcom sounds better in active to me but my Marantz CDB is said to lack dynamic drive and the active pre may compensate for that.

The best speaker you ever heard?
ATC active 100's. Can any passive speaker equal active speaker technology? ATC supposedly hads the most accurate mid driver made as well. I haven't heard nautilus 800's but I think ATC beats Thiel 6's.

Has anyone seen the new Meadowlark Swift?
Cellorover, I second that - "I think we will see a resurgance of American made speakers that out perform the European products, are highyl affordable and, more important, very desireable." American speaker mfg'r are really starting to get their st...
Mods for bright speaker?
Ncarv, and all thanks for the advice. I will try the Monitor Audio Bronze and if it's too bright then probably just pass on it.How about Walker Audio High Definition Links for Thiel speakers? But I've always wanted to like Thiel but except for the...
What Rags carry the most review weight???
I really like What HiFi. Their hearing must be like mine because their descriptions match what I hear in stores. Unlike Stereophile which leaves me confused and feeling like I need to spend more money. For example, the latest buzz on M-F upsamplin...
Has anyone seen the new Meadowlark Swift?
Heard very briefly. Very good sound. I think with tube amps. Definitely "high end" sound quality. I would think Kestrels would give better dynamics and bass since it is bigger. Other than that Swifts might even be better.I didn't get to really giv...
What's driving your 805's
Adcom GFP-750/ Musical Fidelity A3cr. If I did it again, Krell drove them better but that is my preference. I've wanted to like Thiel but my ears can't take the . B&W / Krell was the closest I could get.
Press release Musical Fidelity 308
Only trying to be helpful. There has been interest in new Musical Fidelity amps. I can't get any info from England on the A3.2cr and this was the closest I could find.

High Sensitvity = good transient response ?
Those were Mike Sander's (Quicksilver Audio Mini Monos)) quotes, not Sam Telligs'. Mike also said:"The push-pull had more top end extension, more bass extension, and sounded more solid and controlled. But the single ended had a fastness and a clar...
