WHY CABLES MATTER!
Raise your hand if you have a degree in physics?  I'll wait.✊
WHY CABLES MATTER!
So long as you have laypeople arguing on both sides, the argument will go on forever--often down ridiculous bunny holes.
Service After the Sale
Generally no.
? about Smoking Power Amp
It takes no knowledge to say "that doesn't sound right, I wouldn't do that."
Bypassing woofer cap -- Value too small?
I agree, too small, but I didn't bypass the caps for my woofer on my crossover rebuild.  I only used bypass caps on the mids and uppers.  I used .1uF. Here is is for reference.  woofer section is bottom.  you can see the bypass caps on middle and...
Generic USB 2.0 cable vs. DH Labs USB?
I like silver plated cables for digital. Audioquest has several flavors that have silver coating and you can choose based on how much you feel like you want to spent.  Always upgrade from generic. Jerry
? about Smoking Power Amp
If the amp is still running, all you are risking is $150.  I wouldn't worry about it.  If your mother convinced you to always were clean underwear in case you are in an accident, then you might want to take it out of service. You didn't tell us w...
Power Tube Matching
@tonydennison Not a great design, but common.  So you need 2 matched pairs.  However, they don't have to be perfect, especially if you bias conseratively. Jerry

Are you still the high bidder?
230V Preamp USA
@jea48 in Europe, just as in the US, people say 220, 230, and 240 interchangeably.  240 is the most common voltage.  I hope electricians aren't getting a knot in their shorts over this nomenclature.
Need suggestions for speaker platforms - Klipsch Forte IIs on marble floor
Springs are the only way to isolate your speakers from the floor. spikes couple, and other solutions such as pads and elastomers are semi-coupled.  the best spring system is Townshend.
Does the Audio press ever excite you anymore?
Did they ever? I'm always skeptical of the great new thing.
Power Tube Matching
Power tube matching is overvalued and if you have an amp that can adjust bias individually (every amp should) then almost totally unnecessary. Jerry
230V Preamp USA
Most amplifiers/preamps/equipment is designed for 50/60 hz.  I have a 240V European amplifier that runs great on US 240V 60hz power.  IIRC, 60 hz is acttually a little easier on the transformers that 50hz.   You would have 2 options:  1.  Just in...

@whitestix  remind me, does Don use DC heaters as part of the strategy to get "dead silence"?  thanks.
