Upgrading to a powerful HP amp, unsure about my power gear. @mastering92 Maybe you should reread what you wrote. You are extremely naive and should not be giving audio advice if you think you can size a power cord for the average current draw.
Upgrading to a powerful HP amp, unsure about my power gear. @mastering92 Thanks for the advice. So for a 200 watt amplifier I'm good with an 18 or even 20 gauge power cord according to the charts. So long as it is cool enough that I can keep my hand on it I'm ok? IT professionalls seem to have these ...
Binding Post? Jason, you are thinking backward. Your source puts ot a signal, call it 100%, good as it gets. Every component in the signal path degrades it. You want to minimize the degradation. No passive component ever adds anything, it takes away. Jerry
Binding Post? I think KLEI makes the only low mass binding posts that I am familiar with but I’ve gone lower mass. To truly go low mass you have to abandon the attachment for lugs. I use BFA style "banana" plugs. they aren’t really banana and make a much better...
You know when you are dealing with a BS company.... However, other companies, with good reputations, sell much higher priced cables and people are fine with it. These companies have learned to manage the hype to sound realistic, perhaps even a big humble, focus on the quality build and make their ...

What are some good Amplifier choices for Martin logan ESL 15A? Decware ZMA. Not enough amp for the bass in such a big speaker but the bass driver is self powered. I just hooked my ZMA up to a pair of very low sensitivity CLSs and was surprised it drove them well. It is resolves beautiful midrange and highs...
Bookshelf speakers that pair well with Decware ZMA Never a fan of bookshelf. I assume you'll be using a sub or 2 with them. I've been playing with a DHT amp so I moved my ZMA into my second system just for fun and was surprised to hear it drive a pair of old Martin Logan CLS very, very well. T...

My 30 Watt class A is louder than my 100 Watt Class AB? Amp settings vary with gain. I recently use the same preamp into two different amps, one of whiich can use 3 tubes for different power levels, with the following results for the same voume level. ZMA 40 wpc -40dB Techtron 300b 6 wpc -45dB ...
SET Distortion at higher volumes? @dhcod glad to hear your found a problem and it wasn't a head scratcher. your amp distorting with 96dB speakers would have been, assuming non-concert volumes.
Interesting "Self" review...Schiit Can't find it on the website.
SET Distortion at higher volumes? I’m playing with a 1.8 watt 45 SET with my 96 dB rated speakers and I can’t turn it up high enough to distort. Amps vary, speaker ratings vary. What tube are you running and what speakers?
Need Inputs on a Modestly Priced SS Preamp - Can't beat Schiit in the modest price range. wrt some of the other suggestions: Avoid the swiss army knife preamp. It touches the signal too much. Jerry |
