Reasonable moving coil cartridge
@bpoletti, unless I am mistaken jumping from an ATOC9II to Lyra is at least an order of magnitude jump in the price. Does that  jump REALLY justify the sonics ?  Note that at my age of 62, I very much doubt I hear anything over 16k if I am lucky.
What country builds the best audio equipment?
Maybe a better question could be who makes the best components ?Anyone can put together an amp once you have the components.UK: Exicon audio transistorsCaps: Nichicon ? Is it still Japan ?very lo noise preamp transistors: who knows... maybe still ...
What country builds the best audio equipment?
impossible to answer.... No one country dominates.

Any LOMC about less than $800 or so is probably not going to be any better than a good MM or MI cartridge.Go with MM or MI, with something like a Nagaoka MP300 or MP500 or Ortofon 2M black or Godring 2400 (or similar). You can get them almost half...
Power Amplifier Longevity
Quoted from United Chemicon: (a) Operating VoltageWhen in service at voltages equal to or below the rated value, the life of electrolytic capacitors is affected less by applied voltage than by operating temperature. Figures 7, 8 and 9 show life t...

heaudio, I am sorry but you are not making any sense in your capacitance stuff.  Noone is APPLYING the higher voltage.  The voltage is FIXED at the rails.  The ONLY time it moves UP is when there is a surge.  The overvoltage RATING of the capacito...
Power Amplifier Longevity
Hey atmasphere, good to hear your equipment has them.  Almost all transformers rated above about 300 VAs should have them but most do not.  Expensive gear is obviously better designed and it does. Thanks

Show me one piece of information in the following that indicates reduction of capacitance with its voltage rating: https://content.kemet.com/datasheets/KEM_A4075_ALS70_71.pdf Remember I am talking max voltage RATING not the voltage APPLIED.

Doubling the voltage will NOT halve the capacitance.  Where did you get that from ?Show me ONE graph that shows this.

@jollygreenaudiophile...I guess you did not read the last part of my comment mentioning Pass Labs amps. Please read it again :-)As for inrush current limiters, MOST devices sold today do **NOT** have such current limiters. Also, I am not quite sur...

These are typically the factors that reduce any electronic device’s life:1) Inrush current at turn on.2) Temperature.3) AC voltage spikes which causes the maximum allowable voltages to exceed for various components.Sooooo.. pick an amp which:1) Ha...
Beware of NAD M3 Fire Hazard
Diodes usually fail open circuit, unless the heat is so bad that the entire junction completely melts.  The only way that could happen is if the AC supply surged tremendously.  But then again, if that happened, you would have noticed other stuff b...

Hi smrex, thanks for your input.  Good to know you are happy with the Pellar.
Why Does CD Sound So Good?
Coz it is not compressed like MP3 or other formats.  CD samples at 44 khz ( 1,411,200 bits per second) and that is more than enuf to losslessly reproduce all the way to 20khz.  Furthermore each sample is 16 bits wide giving you approx an amplitud...
Why the woofer moves badly when playing certain LPs
You need a 6/9 dB per octave (the higher the better) subsonic filter at around 18Hz.  Very unlikely you will hear anything below 25Hz anyway (more \like "feel it" but that will take care of it.
