How often to demagnetize mc cartridges? NEVER demagnetize anything which already has a magnet inside it for its normal operation. Otherwise you will destroy/weaken the magnet. This includes moving coil, moving magnet cartridges and speakers as well as your credit cards :)
I have a weird buzz issue; can you help me solve the problem? The next step would then be to make sure that all the signal cables you have are shielded like a coax cable. I had a problem like that once and it got fixed when i changed the signal cable. I presume your cables are good but just be sure. You can ...
Directionality Explained thanks heaudio123. I typically buy from digikey. I think they will be reputable enuf. Thanks again
Directionality Explained heaudio123,I am intending to use about 33,000uF and up, depending on price and low frequency ripple current. Among the 105 degree caps, there are quite a few choices. What brand is usually the best ? Nichicon had a great reputation, is it still...
is it possible to make digital audio sound like vintage vinyl Why would you want to do that ?If you must, add some crackle and pop and voila.
Are manufacturer AC cables good enough? Yes pretty much. One quick test you can do is turn up your power device to maximum for about 3 minutes and hold the power cable in your hand. If you feel ANY warmth then you need a lower gauge (higher current rating) cable. Otherwise you are ok.
I have a weird buzz issue; can you help me solve the problem? You have a ground loop. Get rid of the power conditioner. Plug ALL your devices to the SAME outlet (star configuration). Basically the grounds of all your devices must be at exactly the same potential. Any resistance between different grounds will...
Directionality Explained lets move to something that matters..... any engineers here to suggest which electrolytic capacitor is the longest lasting as long as being operated within its parameters ? I dont want to spend 200 bucks per one and have it blow up in 3 years ? ...
Directionality Explained This is a ludicrous concept. It has no effect on sound. Anyone who claims they can hear it is either very gullible to marketing or from another planet or on some psychedelic substance.
Are integrated amps technically better than separates? @erniesch, finally someone with a bit of sense. Thank you....AT MOST, a 12 to 13 gauge wire is enough for 99% of almost all home amplifiers/subwoofers etc, up to approx 200Watts RMS/channel. Its ohmic resistance will be no more than 0.02 ohms fo...
Are integrated amps technically better than separates? For amps probably up to around 100/150 watts/channel RMS, integrated ones are just as good as separate units as far as sound quality is concerned and definitely better in terms of physical space occupation. For devices above those ratings, and esp...
Just confused Try and plug EVERY equipment that you have into the SAME power outlet. This will minimize ground loops (which cause humming, buzzing sounds) which will sometimes be EXTREMELY annoying & difficult to get rid of. Keep the power cables as short a...
Simple question, or is it... An audio signal is purely a varying electrical voltage & current, just that . Nothing more. You can always get into the atomic & particle physics aspects of what makes up electricity itself but nobody really knows :-) And it does not real...
Recommendations for PC -- for modest system -- Any 12 gauge copper (not copper clad) ordinary multi strand power cable sold at Home Depot would do and would not cost you more than 20 bucks. Everything else is snake oil.
Looking for an integrated amp around 4000 to 5000. A second hand Pass Labs INT 60 or 250. Altho, I very much doubt you will get an INT250 even 4th hand at the price point you are looking for. But miracles do happen :-) |
