Advise on Long Phono Cable run Again, for an LOMC, place a phono preamp close to the table with "normal" connections (about 1m), and you can take the balanced (XLR) output of the preamp to the amp with a much longer cable (10s of feet).
Advise on Long Phono Cable run @lewm , the phono preamp will be very close to the turntable and WILL amplify the sound to around 1 volt, only then the XLR cable can be used easily to the amp.
Considering A SS amplifier Try a Pass Labs class A SS amplifier and unless you really mind the efficiency & heat generated, you will never ever look back.
Advise on Long Phono Cable run Maybe you can purchase an mc phono preamp with an XLR output (Avid does some good ones), place it close to the turntable and you can run a longer XLR balanced cable to a "standard" line input on your amp. This would be the least noise prone approach.
10 Audio Cable Myths and Facts shieldedaudio...Dont waste your breath here. The forum is full of superhumans who claim they can hear the air molecules collide in the air to create noise and maybe would rather listen to music in a room filled with carbon dioxide. They even arg...
Demo'ing Class A amps, Appreciation Suggestions from those who recently been there Pass is the best. Long term reliability with class A heat can be a problem. Pass uses excellent components which achieve 15 to 20 years of trouble free operation. Heat becomes a very important factor with class A. Check the warranties.
Tone controls -- assuming you're ok with them, when would you try them? I personally use tone controls to boost the bass at lower volumes and boost the treble a bit.Reasons:1) For the treble, because of our age, we lose hearing at higher frequencies. Anyone who denies this must come from another planet. So, it compe...
Is it all worth it? @chrisoshea, it is only a matter of time, inevitability that ALL vinyl WILL eventually wear off. After that, everyone will go digital :-)Dont misunderstand, I love vinyl and listen to it a lot too, but having said that, I am not burying my head i...
Is it all worth it? Not quite. Go digital :-) Nothing to wear & tear...
I Need Some Opinions... delos is an overkill for any project table. Try a nagaoka mp200 mm and you cannot go wrong
Cartridge recommendation for classical listening I have a Nagaoka mp500 with an mp300 stylus and also a Goldring 2500.Usually, the higher the output volts of the cartridge, the slightly better it is for noise, since you do not have to turn up the volume as much and also amplify the noise.Classica...
Question about Tone Controls + Equalizers Just want to add.... Music is to be listened to and enjoyed, not measured on a scope and a frequency analyzer. So, adjust everything (including the tone controls) depending on your OWN taste and not by what an oscilloscope tells you :-)
Question about Tone Controls + Equalizers I always prefer tone controls, simply because as we age, our frequency response to sounds change and need some compensating. Some super humans on this thread may disagree with me since they have "dog" genes but most of us do not :-)
How to upgrade "power cord" on turntable with wall wart? It will not make any difference. If you do however, make sure it is "insurance proof" otherwise if something goes wrong and causes a fire, even though it may have nothing to do with the cable, they will use it as an excuse not to pay. Not worth ...
Are aftermarket power cords required to be UL / CE approved? IF anything was to go wrong and cause a fire, your insurance company could reject the payment since they are always looking for any microscopic excuse not to pay.Not worth it... pay a few extra bucks and sleep better at night or when you go on a ... |
