SETs vs. Push/Pull There is a pair of used Accuphase amps for sale right now. They can operate in pure class A and make 30 watts at 8 ohms. In AB mode it puts out 130 @ 8. In bridged mode you get 110 watts at 8 ohms. Lovely amps.
SETs vs. Push/Pull Go find an Audio Note dealer with a pair of Audio Note E type speakers set up. They are simply wonderful, do not require a sub, and will work very well with only 8 watts of quality 300b power. They start at about 3000/pr and go up to the 20k regio...
best rock voices definitely grace slick and then robert plant although I don't like more of their stuff. Slick doine White Rabbit was simply fantastic. Also, when I caught a middle aged Slick with a reformed Jefferson Airplane at the Fillmore (ten years back??) she...
Two different brand amp in the same setup 5.1? I used a Levinson 27.5 to power a pair of Thiel CS2.2 front speakers and a Bryston 2B bridged for the Spendor center channel (older model; better than the current models, different design). A PS Audio 2C was used for the surrounds. It worked very, ...
Starter Turntable yes....always buy a turntable with its original packaging. You are asking for trouble if a table is shipped in any other box because they are so fragile. I won't buy a table used unless it is in it original box with all of the packaging inserts.
Tossing out a question about some 'tables... a TD318 if in good condition with a decent cartridge is a good turntable for 200 bux. More than that I'd be looking somewhere else like a used P2 or P3 Rega or Thorens TD160 Super.
Mcintosh 1700 Hook up the REL to the speaker terminals of the 1700. BTW; the 1700 is tube powered for the tuner only. The amp and preamp are solid state. The only all tube receiver McIntosh offered was the MAC1500 and those rarely are seen for sale.I'd buy one!
Denon DL300, 304 The DL304 was discontinued when I tried to buy one; the 301 was available. The DL103R appears to remain available and is probably the bargain in audioland for a quality moving coil. It is a low output, though, and requires step up or a standard MC...
Traditional looking speakers Spendor, Harbeth, B/W, McIntosh, Galante, Audio Note...so many good looking box speakers in that price range. The Spendor classis models have a wonderful cabinet construction and are gorgeous. I owned a pair of 2/3 in cherrywood; beautiful sound. ...
Spendor Audio vs. B&W Nautilus Speakers Go with the REL Strata; you'll never look back. And, use it with the speaker level connection and NOT the RCA input.Hard to go wrong with either the Spendor or the B/W. I would think the B/W speakers are superior to the S line of Spendor speakers....
What is the benefit of low efficiency speakers? The comments made by a couple of people talking about how speaker designers moved to lower resistance/less efficient speakers in the quest for more SPL and more bass is my recollection, too. That also helped to start the monster amp movement in th...
SETs vs. Push/Pull Try a higher powered SET amplifier such as the Antique Sound Lab 805 at 2995 new; 50 watts.http://show.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/shm.pl?ampstube&958923080&item&Brooklynaudio&4&5&6&http://cgi.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fs_srch.plQQ...
Recommendations for "pure class a" amp under 1K there is also a pair of accuphse p266 monoblock amps for sale; owner has them priced a bit dear but you might want to looke at them. They make 30 class watts at 8 ohms; at the flick of a switch it is a 130 watt/8 ohm class AB amp. beautiful units;...
Tube Amp Suggestions Perhaps one should consult the great Prof Lirpa in addition to Mr Linkwitz. The Great Men of high end audio must be heard.
Soundlab A-3 vs M-2 - sonic differences ? thanks m3 is designed to operate in conjunction with an external subwoofer and is a full range design; ie, it only goes down to 80hz. You must have a dedicated woofer. |
