Small room, "budget priced" speaker advice, please O.K.That's not too small. I would imagine that the speakers would be on the one wall without windows? So, essentially you are working with a room DEPTH of 13 feet. Most desirable would be a listening position three to four feet off of the "Back" wa...
New Production EL34 / 6CA7 I've been using Mullard EL34s in a Ming DA integrated for the last several months. They came highly recommended from Kevin Deal @ Upscale Audio. I would have to agree with his evaluation........ Excellent sounding tubes and leave nothing to be des...
Small room, "budget priced" speaker advice, please What is the size and configuration of the room? What is your ceiling height? How far into the room is the listening position? Hard room or Soft room?
The Best Sounding Beatles CDs "I don't think it gets much worse than "Aja" and "Sticky Fingers" unless you happen to have the 8 track."That statement would have 100% validity until you listen to the MFSL version of Al Stewarts "Year Of The Cat".I think they recorded that album...
The Best Sounding Beatles CDs "I own every MFSL vinyl and for the most part they suck."Pretty much. And I find their CDs to be bright and edgy. But I also find the same results with many of the Japanese imports. Europe, for some reason produces some very fine recordings. Origin...

Anyone use CD tweaks I've been using the Marigo 3-D Stabilizer Mat (which is essentially a semi-rigid disc). I had used their original disc and am now using the newer design. They both work well also.
The Best Sounding Beatles CDs Narrod, you seem absolutely passionate in your convictions towards this collection. I also try to remain a purist in terms of "novelty" recordings. But I'm gonna give this one a shot. I'll let you know of my impressions afterwards. This of course af...
The Best Sounding Beatles CDs Hi Jax. My primary concern is in terms of CD sonics, mix and remastering quality. I'm coming from a tough standard having listened to these albums on vinyl.
LA International DI-30 Signature Digital Cable Kbuzz, No, I did not try any other cables due to the fact I was running balanced and there are not a lot of XLR terminated digital cables out there for auditioning. However, I never bombed with LAT. His stuff has become a lot more expensive since I...
LA International DI-30 Signature Digital Cable Absolutely wonderful. However, I'll be open and tell you that I love his product line anyway. I used his DI-20 with XLRs for the time that I used an outboard D/A. Great cable. Long break-in on all of his stuff, but well worth it. Try not to make a...
Best Audio Related Story (or joke). The Luxman receiver Steve O speaks of reminds me of a period of time when I was attending school. I worked on a part time basis in a "stereo" store in Stratford, Ct. Westchester Stereo was it's name and we had a few decent lines for that period...... |
