Does balanced interconnect sound beter than RCA?
Metralla, you are absolutely correct. Normally, I provide the whole link as a "url" (see my other threads). For some reason, it would not work. So I did the old "cut & paste". Although, if memory serves, the actual BAT I.D. is somewhere in tha...
What is the advantage of a balanced interconnect?
Delsfan, the following is interesting, and as Herman mentioned , there is a wealth of info in the forums. Ed.http://forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fr.pl?ddgtl&1079758386&openusid&zzBuscis2&4&5#Buscis2
Grado Statement Series
Doug & Twl, You're right. It is me reading cost into the equation and maybe I shouldn't be. I assume it's the way I read the original post. I was basing my opinion on the equipment presently being used.Although, I was NOT thinking about step u...
Grado Statement Series
Doug, you and I are in 90% agreement. And before we discuss the fine points any further, I would like to ask one question. Which, based on my previous response to this thread, I consider highly relevant. With all do respect, How much do those beaut...
Grado Statement Series
Twl, I find it interesting that you would recommend a step up. I have always found step ups' to be somewhat problematic. It seems that any "transformer type" step up would introduce hum problems (to varying degrees), and offered little or no adjus...
Is there an Audiogon for musical instruments?
If there isn't, does it give you any ideas?
Grado Statement Series
Colitas, That Grado Statements has an output of 0.5 mv. It would require a preamp gain higher than the 36.5 db that you are providing. 56db would be optimum gain for your Grado.I also don't know what Rega pre you are using. The Brio, Mira and Curs...

Shibata Stylus
4yanx, I remember Ohm C-2s. They were a really great sounding speaker. I once heard them hooked up to an old Luxman Class A power amp. They sounded incredible. So did the Luxman.I also apologize for steering so far off track with this thread. Ed.

BTW 4yanx. I was just trying to figure out what I was using back then as quad decoder/amp. The decoder was some kind of Dynaco, but I forget which model. The amp was a "Lafayette Radio Electronics" 60 watt x4. (it was probably more like 18 watts x...

I dunno 4yanx. It might of been the stereohedron. SQ....CD-4....DBX....man, is that stirring up some memories.I remember purchasing a Sonus "Dimension 5" MM cartridge at the time that quad was pretty much becoming a dead issue. 78-79-80? The Sonus...
